Abstract

This study develops an inclusive heritage-learning environment for the Colliq Pujie Museum Complex in Barru Regency through a feminist architectural approach. A research-through-design method combined literature and precedent review, field observation, comparative site selection, climate and access analysis, user–activity mapping, spatial programming, descriptive quantitative analysis, and criteria-based evaluation. The selected 1.79-ha site adjoins the existing museum and is directly accessible from a provincial road. The resulting 9,502-m² program integrates temporary and immersive exhibitions, a Barru history gallery, education, workshops, library and research functions, a 529-seat auditorium, reflection spaces, and supporting amenities. Feminist principles were translated into human-scaled thresholds, connected commons, universal circulation, passive visibility, mixed-mode environmental zoning, and an interpretive sequence that presents Colliq Pujie as a producer and custodian of Bugis knowledge. The proposal demonstrates that gender-responsive architecture can be operationalized as a performance framework linking representation, access, safety, participation, and environmental comfort rather than as a formal style. The design remains a schematic hypothesis requiring participatory validation, environmental simulation, accessibility auditing, and post-occupancy evaluation.
