Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of ustadz and ustadzah in shaping the Islamic character of students through the habituation of worship at TPQ Bahrul Ulum. The background of this research is based on the urgency of character education rooted in Islamic values from an early age, particularly in facing moral challenges in the modern era. The research method employed is a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings reveal that ustadz and ustadzah play a strategic role as role models (uswah hasanah), mentors, and motivators in instilling worship practices such as congregational prayer, Qur’an recitation, and daily supplications. Consistent habituation has proven effective in shaping students’ discipline, responsibility, and noble character. Supporting factors include a religious environment and parental involvement, while inhibiting factors consist of limited time and diverse student backgrounds. Thus, the role of ustadz and ustadzah is crucial in forming Islamic character through structured and sustainable worship habituation, making it relevant to the needs of character education in the contemporary era.
