This study was motivated by the dance learning process in Class X of SMKN 9 Padang, which was still dominated by conventional learning through one-way lectures, resulting in students’ learning activities and learning outcomes not being optimal. To address this problem, the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model was implemented to actively involve students in developing and producing a group dance project. This study aimed to improve students’ learning activities and learning outcomes in dance through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. Students’ learning outcomes were assessed through individual process assessment in developing dance works and group assessment of the final dance project. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 29 students of Class X at SMKN 9 Padang. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome assessments, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed that students’ learning activities increased from 64% in Cycle I, categorized as Fair, to 89% in Cycle II, categorized as Very Good. Students’ learning outcomes, obtained from individual process assessments and group project assessments, also increased from an average score of 70 in Cycle I, categorized as Fair, to 86 in Cycle II, categorized as Very Good. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model can improve students’ learning activities and learning outcomes in dance in Class X of SMKN 9 Padang.
