This study aims to determine the damage to lung morphology in mice (Mus musculus) by administering various strong acids by inhalation. The string acids used in this study are HCl 30%, H2SO4 50%, and HNO3 50%). The subjects of the study were 2-month old mice which were divided into 4 treatment groups consisting of 2 mice per group. There are 4 gorups of mice; a control group, a treatment group with 37% hydrochloric acid (HCl), a group with with sulfuric acid (H2SO4) 50% treatment, and a group with nitric acid (HNO3) 50% treatment. Strong acids are given simultaneously with standard feed and drinking water ad libitium. Tthe mice (Mus musculus) were euthanized 10 days post treatment and surgery was performed to observe lung morphology consisting of color, weight, and shape. The study showed that the administration of strong acid damaged the lung morphology of mice and the agent causing most severe damage of lungs was the 50% nitric acid (HNO3).
