Abstract

Hypertriglyceridemia is an important risk factor for cardiometabolic disorders that often remains undetected among adults, despite contributing to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and other metabolic complications. This community service program aimed to conduct triglyceride screening as an early detection effort for metabolic risk using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach. A total of 109 adult participants with a mean age of 42.81 ± 13.55 years were involved in the activity. The results showed a mean triglyceride level of 162.13 ± 81.81 mg/dL with a median of 136 mg/dL (range 59-521 mg/dL), indicating considerable variation among participants. Categorically, 53.2% of respondents were within the normal range, while 46.8% were classified as having hypertriglyceridemia. Further analysis demonstrated a tendency for triglyceride levels to increase with age, although the association was relatively weak (R² = 0.037). These findings indicate a substantial proportion of individuals with elevated triglyceride levels in the community, highlighting the need for greater attention to metabolic health. Community-based screening proved effective as an early detection strategy for identifying metabolic risk factors. Therefore, follow-up promotive and preventive interventions are necessary, including dietary improvement, increased physical activity, weight management, and health education to reduce cardiometabolic risk and improve overall community health.
