Gender equality in Islam is a discourse that continues to develop in line with the dynamics of social, political, and religious life. Islam, as a religion of justice and mercy, fundamentally upholds the balance of rights and responsibilities between men and women. This article aims to explore the concept, historical development, and efforts to achieve gender equality in Islam. Using a qualitative-descriptive method through a literature review approach, this study analyzes scholarly works discussing gender from Islamic perspectives. The results reveal that Islam offers a progressive view of women's rights in education, economy, politics, and society. However, patriarchal culture and biased interpretations of religious texts often hinder its implementation. Therefore, reinterpretation of Islamic texts, increased gender literacy, and inclusive policies are essential to realize gender justice in Muslim societies.
