Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the addition of Dieng carica seeds in complete feed. The parameters observed were slaughter weight, carcass, edible carcass, net viscera, edible viscera, and eight commercial cuts. The materials used were eighteen local lambs (3 months, 10.68 ± 1.30 kg), pellet feed consisting of carica seeds, pakchong grass, and concentrate. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments and six replications. The treatments consisted of A: 5%, B: 12.5% and C: 20% carica seed level. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance. The results showed that the level of carica seeds had a significant effect on the slaughter and carcass weight, edible carcass, weight of leg, shoulder, shank, breast, and breast percentage, but relatively the same in other parameters. The slaughter weight of A was lower than B and C, but B was relatively the same with C. The carcass weight and edible carcass at A were lower than B and C, but B and C were relatively the same. The shoulder, shank, and breast weights at A were lower than B and C. The leg weight at A was lower than C, but B was relatively the same as A and C. The percentage of commercial breast cuts at A was lower than at B and C. From the research results, it can be concluded that feed containing 12.5-20% carica seeds can increase the edible carcass weight, the weight of shoulder, shank, breast and leg, and percentage of breast cuts.
