<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the formation of compound words in language use within cafés in Serang City. The research data consisted of compound words found in food and beverage menus at three cafés in Serang City, namely Kafe Nostalgia, Ruang Lendra, and Kalanoia Coffee. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of non-participant observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that language use in cafés utilizes compound words as a strategy for naming food and beverage menus. The structures of compound words found include noun + noun, noun + verb, noun + adjective, and adjective + noun. Based on Kridalaksana’s classification, the types of compound words identified include subordinative, attributive, and coordinative compounds. In addition, the meanings found include lexical, grammatical, and idiomatic meanings. The findings indicate that the use of compound words in menu naming functions not only as a communication tool but also as a form of linguistic creativity and a marketing strategy in the culinary industry.]]>
