The Friday night religious study session tradition organized by Naposo Nauli Bulung in Sibanggor Jae Village, Puncak Sorik Marapi Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency, is a form of local cultural preservation that blends with Islamic values. This tradition serves not only as a means of worship but also as a medium for non-formal education, character building among youth, and a strengthener of social cohesion within the community. This community service initiative employs a participatory approach, in which young people are actively involved in reciting prayers, tahlil, and zikir, as well as leading the religious study session. The findings of this community service project indicate that Friday night religious study sessions play a crucial role in instilling religious values, social solidarity, and moral responsibility, while also passing down the Mandailing traditional philosophy known as “ad at dohot ibadat” (custom and worship). The involvement of college students in the Community Service Program (KKN) further enriches these activities through innovation, documentation, and the integration of modern values without diminishing the sacredness of tradition. Amid the tide of globalization that threatens local wisdom, the Naposo Nauli Bulung religious study sessions stand as a living tradition that proves local culture can remain relevant, sustainable, and in harmony with contemporary developments.
