The study purpose was to evaluate and enhance rural community legal literacy regarding land legality as a preventive measure against agrarian conflicts in Serang. Land ownership disputes in rural areas often stem from reliance on informal documents and a lack of public understanding regarding official land certification procedures. Materials and methods. This community service project employed a qualitative action-oriented approach consisting of interactive legal counseling, practical simulations of land transactions and inheritance, simple legal consultations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The program involved village residents, local government officials, and community leaders. Results. The implementation of the program led to a notable increase in community understanding regarding the legal importance of land ownership certificates, official registration procedures, and the role of land deed officials. Participants shifted from relying solely on traditional or administrative village documents to recognizing land certificates as the primary legal protection against land claims. Furthermore, the counseling successfully broadened the community's awareness of non-litigation dispute resolution mechanisms, such as mediation and deliberation. Conclusions. Enhancing legal literacy among village residents is an effective strategy to prevent agrarian disputes and establish land tenure security. Continuous educational initiatives, supported by village officials and land authorities, are essential to foster a sustainable legal culture and support rural development.
