Abstract

Patients undergoing caesarean section operations continue to increase over time. The anesthesia generally given for this procedure is spinal anesthesia. One of the effects that often occurs after spinal anesthesia is shivering. If left untreated, shivering can increase metabolic activity, oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, cardiac output, and postoperative pain, which has a negative impact on the patient's condition. The aim of this research is to find out the description of the incidence of shivering in patients after spinal anesthesia with caesarean section at dr. Soedirman Regional Hospital, Kebumen. The method used is a quantitative research method with descriptive analysis techniques and a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling with a sample size of 70 samples from caesarean section patients with spinal anesthesia. The data were analyzed using univariate tests. The results of this study showed that the age category that experienced the most shivering was 26-35 years old with 23 patients (32.8%), the ASA physical status category that experienced the most shivering was ASA III with 24 patients (34.3%) and The BMI category that experienced the most shivering was normal BMI (<25.0 Kg/m²) with 23 patients (32.8%). It can be concluded that of the 70 patients who experienced shivering, 44 patients (62.9%) and those who did not experience shivering were 26 patients (37.1%).
