Belt conveyor systems are material transport systems that require significant energy; therefore, mathematical models are needed to represent power requirements and energy consumption. This study aims to develop a mathematical model for belt conveyor power consumption based on the ISO 5048 standard and to evaluate its fit against actual data. The research involved modeling and simulation using MATLAB, testing inclination angles of 0°, 3°, 5°, 7°, 10°, 12°, and 15°, while maintaining a constant belt speed of 5 m/s and a conveying capacity of 900 tons/hour. Model parameters were estimated using the Least Square (LS) and Recursive Least Square (RLS) methods and compared with the Buckingham Pi approach. Evaluation was conducted using Goodness of Fit, Residual Error, Predicted vs. Actual analysis, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and the Coefficient of Determination (R²). The results indicate that the model effectively represents the actual data. The RLS method yielded the best performance, with an RMSE of 0.8442 and an R² of 0.9561, compared to 0.9603 and 0.9432 for LS, and 0.9751 and 0.9415 for the Buckingham Pi approach. Energy consumption increased from 24.8743 kWh at 0° to 103.47 kWh at 15°. The findings demonstrate that the developed mathematical model aligns with the fundamental concepts of ISO 5048 and is suitable for analyzing the power requirements and energy consumption of belt conveyors under the tested conditions.
