Moral degradation, as reflected in the high incidence of bullying among junior high school students, indicates the weakness of character education value internalization. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, which often emphasizes cognitive aspects alone, requires a transformative approach that addresses students’ inner dimensions, one of which is the concept of tazkiyah al-nafs. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of a religious habituation program based on tazkiyah al-nafs in fostering students’ religious character in three junior high schools in Bandung, Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the religious habituation programs implemented in the three schools reflected the internalization of tazkiyah al-nafs stages, namely takhalli (purification of the soul), tahalli (adornment of moral virtues), and tajalli (the attainment of inner peace). These processes contributed to the development of five dimensions of religious character: religious belief, religious practice, religious feeling, religious knowledge, and religious effect.
