Fish farmers and fishermen in North Konawe face instability resulting from unpredictable income and limited financial literacy. In response, a team of lecturers from Halu Oleo University implemented a community service program. This initiative emphasized financial literacy education and practical bookkeeping training to enable fishermen to manage finances, develop budgets, and allocate funds effectively. The program targeted 10 to 15 participants and improved their financial knowledge and skills. Participants learned to create cash flow statements, and evaluation scores increased. It also changed behavior: 60% of participants consistently maintained a logbook, while 30% began saving or planning for debt repayment. Overall, the program showed that financial literacy education can strengthen the financial resilience of fishing families and reduce their vulnerability to financial shocks.
