This classroom action research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of structured listening activities in improving the listening comprehension skills of Year 4 English as a Second Language (ESL) students at an international school. The study employed a two-cycle Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, with data collected through listening comprehension tests, classroom observations, student activity records, and reflective notes. The findings indicated that structured listening activities significantly enhanced students’ listening comprehension, particularly in identifying main ideas, recognizing specific details, following instructions, and responding more confidently to listening tasks. Students also demonstrated increased participation, engagement, and attention during listening lessons, suggesting that structured listening activities are an effective approach for improving listening comprehension among primary ESL learners.
