<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the impact of the effectiveness of combining Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes on students’ learning achievement at MIS Al-Amin Hapo, Morotai Jaya District. A mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were obtained through observation and interviews, while quantitative data were obtained from students’ report-card scores in Grades 1 and 2. The participants consisted of 29 students, comprising 16 Grade 1 students and 13 Grade 2 students. Quantitative data were analyzed by calculating the mean score and conducting an Independent Samples t-Test. The results showed that class merging was implemented because of limited classroom space and inadequate facilities. In general, the learning process continued, although several challenges remained, including classroom management, the distribution of teachers’ attention, students’ concentration, and differences in students’ abilities. Based on the analysis of report-card scores, students’ overall mean learning achievement was 60.26. The Independent Samples t-Test showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Therefore, a significant difference was found in learning achievement between Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in the combined-class learning setting at MIS Al-Amin Hapo. These findings suggest that although class merging can still support adequate learning outcomes, more structured and differentiated management strategies are needed to accommodate the developmental needs of students from different grade levels.]]>
