This study investigates the integration of disaster risk reduction and environmental concerns within junior high school education, based on a systematic review of existing scholarly literature. The review identifies a variety of approaches implemented at the junior high school level, including the incorporation of social values, environmental ethics, and active student participation. Approaches such as real-life, activity-based learning and the use of visual media have demonstrated positive effects in enhancing students' awareness of environmental degradation and the importance of collective action. Additionally, child-centered education, along with the application of principles of gender equality and social inclusiveness, further strengthens students' understanding of their roles in climate change adaptation and sustainable disaster risk mitigation. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges remain, particularly in the integration of environmental education in schools with limited resources. Future research should focus on examining specific variables, such as the role of educators, curriculum development, and pedagogical methods, to better assess the effectiveness of these approaches, particularly in diverse regional and cultural contexts.
