<![CDATA[Impact toughness characterization is an important step in bio-composite development, yet the limited availability of affordable and reliable testing equipment remains a major challenge for many laboratories. This study presents the design, fabrication, calibration, and validation of a Charpy impact tester based on ASTM D6110 for laboratory-scale bio-composite characterization. The developed system demonstrated stable and consistent performance during calibration, confirming the reliability of its swing mechanism and measurement accuracy. Validation using five hybrid bio-composite variations showed that the tester consistently differentiated impact toughness, with absorbed energy increasing from 0.33 J in unreinforced specimens to 2.40 J in composites reinforced with three layers of mensiang fiber. By integrating mechanical design, fabrication, calibration, and validation into a single platform, the developed tester provides a reliable, economical, and practical alternative for independent bio-composite impact characterization.]]>
