Synthetic gas (syngas) is a gaseous product of biomass gasification primarily composed of hydrogen (Hâ‚‚) and carbon monoxide (CO), making it a promising alternative energy source. However, the flammable and toxic nature of syngas requires a safe and efficient storage system. This study aims to analyze the structural strength of an Adsorbed Natural Gas (ANG)-based pressure vessel for syngas storage at an operating pressure of 35 bar using the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method. The pressure vessel was designed in accordance with the ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1 standard, while the numerical simulation was performed using SolidWorks 2022. The design resulted in a horizontal pressure vessel with an internal diameter of 1.26 m and shell and head thicknesses of 36 mm. The simulation results indicated a maximum von Mises stress of 116 MPa, a maximum displacement of 0.705 mm, and a factor of safety of 2.2. The maximum stress remained below the yield strength of SA516 Grade 70 steel, indicating that the pressure vessel design is structurally safe and suitable for operation at a pressure of 35 bar.
