This quasi-experimental study investigated how short English-language films enhance speaking skills among eighth-grade learners. Selected through cluster sampling, the experimental cohort (n = 34) was taught using movie clips integrated into the English for Nusantara curriculum, while the control cohort (n = 33) followed traditional instruction. Oral post-test evaluations assessed pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Data analysis confirmed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group, achieving a mean score of 87.79 compared to 71.52, with a substantial effect size (d = 1.065, p < 0.05). Pronunciation showed the largest improvement, whereas grammar showed the smallest. Overall, integrating short film media proves to be an effective strategy for developing student speaking proficiency within the Merdeka Curriculum framework.
