Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the students' responses to reading activities using Quizlet in the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. The purposes of this research were to analyze the students' responses in reading activities using Quizlet and to identify the aspects of reading activities using Quizlet that receive positive and negative responses from students. The researcher focused on five indicators, namely students' general responses toward the use of Quizlet, vocabulary learning, pronunciation practice, motivation, and interest in reading. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method. The population and sample of this research were 35 students of class X MPLB 1, selected using total sampling. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire consisting of 20 statements measured using a five-point Likert Scale. The collected data were analyzed by calculating the frequency, percentage, mean score, and Total Respondent Achievement (TCR). The results revealed that the students' overall responses were categorized as Positive, with a mean score of 3.17 and a TCR of 63.43%. Further analysis of each indicator showed that students' general responses obtained the highest mean score (3.48), followed by interest in reading (3.39), vocabulary learning (3.33), and motivation (3.05), while pronunciation practice obtained the lowest mean score (1.77). The findings indicate that although Quizlet was well received overall, students still experienced difficulties in the pronunciation aspect, which remained the only indicator categorized as Negative.
