Abstract

Introduction: Adequate facilities and infrastructure are essential for delivering effective and participant-centered health training services. However, training institutions may face gaps between available facilities and participants' expectations. This study aimed to assess customer needs for facilities and infrastructure to support the development of health training services at the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Health Training Center, Indonesia. Method: A qualitative case study was conducted from May to July 2025. Eleven participants were purposively selected, comprising three training service staff and eight training participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, document review, and field documentation. Thematic analysis was conducted through coding, categorization, theme development, and interpretation, supported by NVivo software. Data credibility was enhanced through source and time triangulation. Result: The findings indicate diverse infrastructure needs, particularly regarding air conditioning, lighting, clean water, room and classroom comfort, sanitation, audiovisual equipment, and food provision. Key challenges included inconsistent water supply, limited dormitory capacity, equipment failures, and inadequate maintenance. Conclusion: Facility and infrastructure gaps remain important barriers to participant comfort and the quality of health training services. A systematic customer-needs assessment and preventive maintenance system should be integrated into training-service planning, with priority given to sanitation, accommodation, classroom facilities, audiovisual equipment, and food services.
