Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical understanding ability of elementary school students, particularly in learning fractions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by Wordwall media on students' mathematical understanding ability and to examine the improvement in mathematical understanding ability of students who received instruction through the RME approach assisted by Wordwall media compared to those who received instruction through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Canva media. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 50 second-grade students of SDN Ciwiru who were divided into an experimental class and a control class. The research instrument was a mathematical understanding test administered through pre-tests and post-tests. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, simple linear regression, and N-Gain analysis.  The results indicated that the RME approach assisted by Wordwall media had a significant effect on students' mathematical understanding ability, with a significance value of 0.007 < 0.05 and a coefficient of determination of 44.2%. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.6730, which was higher than that of the control class (0.4850), both categorized as moderate improvement. Therefore, the RME approach assisted by Wordwall media was found to be effective in improving elementary school students' mathematical understanding ability in fraction learning. This study aims to analyze the development of a school curriculum at SD Labschool UPI Purwakarta in shaping students to be religious, progressive, and globally competitive. The main issues addressed are the challenges of curriculum development in elementary schools amid dynamic policies, teacher readiness, and changing educational demands. This qualitative study collected data through in-depth interviews and document analysis. The results show that SD Labschool UPI Purwakarta has developed three distinctive curricula: a religious-based curriculum through the Madrasah Diniyah Awaliyah (MDA) program, an ICT-based curriculum, and a bilingual curriculum. These are implemented through three learning track options (bilingual, tahfidz, and regular classes), offering flexibility for student potential development. These curricula strengthen students' religious values, digital literacy, and foreign language proficiency, and serve as the school's identity. This development reflects the school's strong commitment to preparing students who are spiritually grounded, digitally literate, and globally capable.
