Reading ability is a foundational competence that elementary school students need to acquire. In practice, some students still encounter difficulties when interpreting and comprehending folktale texts, while the availability of learning media that can facilitate structured reading activities remains limited. This study aims to describe the development stages, determine the feasibility, and portray teachers’ and students’ responses to the “SASIMBA” digital comic based on guided reading. The study adopted a Research and Development (R&D) framework anchored in the ADDIE model, with the research cohort comprising 16 second-grade learners from SDN Truneng. Data acquisition was effectuated through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and testing, drawing upon observation sheets, interview protocols, expert appraisal forms, teacher–student response questionnaires, and a reading-comprehension assessment as the respective instruments. The data were analyzed descriptively using percentages. The findings indicate that media expert validation reached 90%, while material and Indonesian language expert validation reached 95%; both were categorized as highly feasible. The teacher response reached 95%, whereas the student response reached 96.09%, categorized as very good. The reading comprehension test yielded an average student score of 91.25%. These findings indicate that the “SASIMBA” digital comic based on guided reading demonstrates a high level of feasibility and receives positive responses in folktale learning among Phase A students.
