Abstract

The quality of physical literacy of physical education (PE) teachers is a critical factor in the success of teaching and learning, as teachers play the role of facilitators as well as role models in shaping students' active lifestyle behaviors. This study aims to measure the level of physical literacy among elementary school PE teachers in four main domains: affective, cognitive, physical, and behavioral. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. A descriptive quantitative with survey design was employed. The research instrument consisted of a physical literacy questionnaire developed based on the framework of the International Physical Literacy Association (IPLA). The participants were eighty elementary school PE teachers in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS software version 25. The findings reveal that the overall level of physical literacy is in the high category (M= 3.54, SD=.490). This indicates that teachers demonstrate strong motivation, adequate knowledge, solid physical competence, and active behavior tendencies that support effective physical education instruction. Despite these positive results, challenges remain in sustaining consistent active living behaviors and in integrating values of physical literacy more effectively into daily teaching practices.
