This community service activity aimed to evaluate the implementation of flood disaster mitigation education and simulation and to examine changes in students' cognitive understanding at SMP Negeri 6 Samarinda. The activity involved 111 seventh-grade students and combined material delivery by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) with group-based practical activities, including emergency-kit preparation, disaster-response case analysis, and identification of evacuation routes and assembly points. A one-group pre-test-post-test evaluation was used, with a 15-item multiple-choice knowledge test administered before and after the activity. Because the score distributions were non-normal, paired scores were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The test yielded Z = -0.949 and p = 0.343 (p > 0.05), indicating no statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test cognitive scores. Observations during implementation nevertheless showed active participation and enthusiasm in discussion and simulation sessions. These observations should not be interpreted as evidence of improved preparedness because attitudes and practical skills were not measured using validated instruments. Future programs should include repeated learning, structured reflection, and validated assessments that cover knowledge, attitudes, and practical preparedness skills.
