This preliminary study aims to analyze the need for developing an interactive electronic module based on case study strategy containing socioscientific issues to improve scientific literacy and scientific argumentation among prospective science teachers. This research is a qualitative descriptive study involving 49 prospective science teachers as research subjects through purposive sampling. Data on the need for the research product were collected through questionnaires and interviews. All data were analyzed descriptively and produced the following findings. (1) A total of 63.3% of respondents stated that the integration of socioscientific issues in lectures is very important for training scientific literacy and argumentation skills. However, 57.1% of respondents stated that the teaching materials previously used did not sufficiently support this. (2) Respondents need a learning module that is not only electronic in nature but also provides direct experience in solving cases containing socioscientific issues. (3) All respondents stated their willingness to try an interactive electronic module that suits the devices they own. These findings not only serve as a strong basis for designing the electronic module but also present opportunities for transforming science education practices in the future.
