This study examines the role of Nuruddin al-Raniri within the transregional scholarly networks of Malay ulama across the Malacca Strait during the seventeenth century. Previous studies have primarily focused on textual analyses and theological debates surrounding al-Raniri’s thought, while limited attention has been paid to his position within broader scholarly networks. This research aims to analyze al-Raniri’s role as an intellectual actor in Malay Islamic scholarly networks and to explore how these networks shaped the production of knowledge and religious authority in the Aceh Sultanate. Employing a qualitative approach with library research methods, the study utilizes al-Raniri’s works as primary sources and academic books and journal articles as secondary sources. Data were analyzed through content analysis and a contextual historical approach. The findings reveal that al-Raniri functioned as a key node within scholarly networks connecting Aceh with Muslim India and the Middle East. These networks served not only as channels for the transmission of knowledge but also as arenas for intellectual contestation and the formation of religious authority. The study concludes that Malay Islam developed as a cosmopolitan and dynamic intellectual tradition that formed an integral part of global Islamic civilization. The implications of this study highlight the significance of scholarly network analysis in understanding the development of Malay Islam and demonstrate the active contribution of Malay ulama to the production, dissemination, and transformation of Islamic knowledge within the broader Muslim world
