This study aims to analyze the forms and mechanisms of AI technology adaptation in the sorogan process. This qualitative case study explores the transformation of AI-based sorogan learning in Islamic boarding schools in East Java. Informants (kiai, students, IT team) were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document study. Data validity was tested via triangulation, then analyzed using the interactive qualitative model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The results of this study improve the efficiency of yellow book learning without eroding tradition. AI acts as a pre-srogan pedagogical assistant that handles technical corrections, allowing kiai to focus on deepening substantial meaning, critical reasoning, and transformational leadership. The strict boundaries of AI's role ensure the authenticity of the sanad (chain of transmission), moral transmission, and spiritual authority of the kiai. This phenomenon demonstrates that technology ideally empowers teachers, combining modern efficiency with the preservation of classical Islamic scholarship
