This study examines the reconstruction of Islamic religious education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI) teaching methods through the perspective of deep learning. PAI instruction in Indonesia still tends to emphasize rote memorization and content delivery rather than the internalization of religious values into daily life. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, this study analyzed scholarly articles, books, and education policy documents from academic databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed, selected through inclusion and exclusion criteria and examined using thematic content analysis. The findings show that the thoughts of KH. Ahmad Dahlan, KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, and Ki Hajar Dewantara can be reconstructed into an Islamic Deep learning paradigm that integrates cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions. Digital technology, adaptive learning platforms, and collaborative projects were found to strengthen conceptual understanding and critical thinking, although their success still depends on teachers' digital-pedagogical readiness. This study proposes a three-layer reconstruction model: strengthening the philosophical-value foundation, applying technology-based adaptive learning strategies, and transforming the teacher's role into a facilitator of meaningful learning experiences. These three layers reinforce one another, since values without operational strategy remain abstract, while technology without a value foundation risks reducing PAI to mere cognitive optimization.
