<![CDATA[The use of formalin and borax in food remains a serious food safety issue that may cause adverse health effects. Limited knowledge among community health cadres regarding the risks and detection of these substances led to the implementation of a community service program in Rejomulyo Village, Kediri City. This program aimed to improve the knowledge of posyandu (integrated health post) mothers about the dangers of formalin and borax and simple detection methods in food. The program applied a three-day participatory education approach, including field observation, counseling sessions, and practical demonstrations. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires with an ordinal scale administered to 45 participants. The results demonstrated an increase in average knowledge levels from 57.22% before the intervention to 82.22% after the intervention. Statistical analysis using a Paired Sample t-test showed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05). The activity was well implemented and received positive responses from participants. The program effectively enhanced participants’ knowledge and has potential for sustainable development to promote food safety awareness at the community level.
