Students’ low motivation to learn Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in Grade V at UPTD SD Negeri 182 Barru was characterized by low participation and self-confidence, as well as instruction that remained teacher-centered. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Make a Match cooperative learning model and improvements in students’ motivation to learn IPAS. The study employed a qualitative approach with the Kemmis and McTaggart classroom action research design and was conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants consisted of one teacher and 10 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which comprises data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The observation and questionnaire results showed that students’ motivation to learn increased from Cycle I to Cycle II. Following instructional improvements in Cycle II, students’ motivation to learn met the established success indicators. These findings indicate that implementing the Make a Match cooperative learning model can improve motivation to learn IPAS in the class studied and provide a practical basis for teachers to select instructional strategies that support students’ motivation to learn.
