This study aims to analyze the spread of hoaxes regarding the demonstrations and riots of August 2026 within the context of social, national, and state life, grounded in Pancasila as the state ideology. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing literature review and documentation methods. Secondary data were gathered from news articles, government information and clarifications, scholarly journals, and literature concerning hoaxes, social media, digital literacy, and Pancasila. A thematic analysis was conducted to identify the factors driving the spread of hoaxes, the influence of socio-cultural contexts, the role of social media, the impact on society and national stability, and mitigation efforts. The findings indicate that the spread of hoaxes is driven by low digital literacy, the rapid flow of information on social media, the repurposing of old photos or videos in different contexts, information manipulation, the use of digital technology, and the reinforcement of echo chambers and confirmation bias. The dissemination of unverified information can incite unrest, exacerbate polarization, undermine public trust, and potentially threaten the stability of social and national life. From the perspective of Pancasila, this phenomenon conflicts with values such as honesty and responsibility, mutual respect, unity, responsible freedom of expression, and social justice. Therefore, Pancasila can serve as a guiding framework for navigating digital information by strengthening digital literacy, fostering a culture of "filtering before sharing," verifying information, promoting digital ethics education, and encouraging collaboration among the public, government, media, academics, and fact-checking communities.
