This study aimed to describe laissez-faire parenting among Alpha Generation children who use gadgets, portray their socio-emotional development at school, and examine the relationship between the two. A qualitative case study was conducted at Pandita Kindergarten, Serang City. Purposively selected participants included three parents, three children aged 5–6 years, and one classroom teacher. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Trustworthiness was examined through source and theoretical triangulation. Findings indicated emotional acceptance with limited guidance in emotional regulation, inconsistent boundaries on gadget use, and the use of gadgets to quickly calm conflict. At school, children showed difficulty adapting without screens, emotional outbursts when their wishes were denied, and limited empathy toward peers. This case study indicates an association between permissive digital practices and socio-emotional challenges; the findings are not intended for statistical generalization. Keywords: laissez-faire parenting; gadgets; socio-emotional development; early childhood; case study
