This study examines parenting styles and the factors that hinder parents in guiding children to read the Qur’an in Pemulutan Ulu Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The research was motivated by children’s continued dependence on parental supervision and attention to develop an interest in reading the Qur’an. This study employed field research with a qualitative approach, producing descriptive data obtained directly from the research site. The findings indicate that most parents apply a democratic parenting style, which is considered appropriate for educating children, particularly in guiding them to read the Qur’an. However, several factors hinder parents in fulfilling this role. These include parents’ lack of awareness of the importance of guiding their children in Qur’anic reading, limited parental ability to read the Qur’an, and work-related responsibilities that reduce the time available to accompany their children. Parents who lack sufficient Qur’anic reading skills may also feel less confident teaching their children independently. These obstacles can reduce children’s interest in learning to read the Qur’an. Therefore, parental awareness, ability, and involvement are important in supporting children’s Qur’anic learning and developing their interest in reading the Qur’an.
