Abstract

This study explores how greeting culture influences students’ social attitudes. Its primary objective is to establish a relationship between the way students greet others and the way they socialize. The study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design. A total of 100 students were selected as the sample, and a questionnaire was used as the primary data collection instrument. Validity and reliability tests were conducted to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the instrument. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS Statistics 23. The findings reveal that greeting culture has a substantial influence on social attitudes, which is reflected in several ways. Specifically, the simple linear regression equation indicates that a 1% increase in greeting culture is associated with a 1.351-point increase in social attitudes. The significance value was 0.000, which is lower than the probability threshold of 0.05; therefore, greeting culture has an influence on students’ social attitudes. The influence of greeting culture on the social attitudes of students at MTs Negeri 1 Palembang, as indicated by the R-squared value, or coefficient of determination, is 47.4%. These results show that greeting culture accounts for 47.4% of the variation in students’ social attitudes at MTs Negeri 1 Palembang.
