PENGGUNAAN ROSIN KATIONIK – PAC UNTUK PENDARIHAN PADA pH NETRAL

Abstract

An experiment of neutral sizing with cationic rosin and poly aluminium chloride (PAC) as a fixing agent has been done using a mixture of 5 % NBKP, 65 % LBKP and 30 % trim waste. Clay of 10 % and cationic polyacrilamide of 0,1% based on OD fiber were added. Cationic rosin and PAC were varied in the range of 1-2%. The result showed thad neutral sizing with cationic rosin – PAC ratio of 1 : 1 was effective resulting a handsheet with Cabb60  size, tensile index, tearing index and folding endurance of 18,56 g/m2, 38.56 Nm/g, 6,77 Nm2/kg and 100 times respectively. Intisari         Penelitian penggunaan rosin kationik pada proses pendarihan pH netral dengan PAC (poly aluminium chloride) sebagai bahan pengendap telah dilakukan. Pada penelitian ini bahan baku  yang digunakan adalah campuran dari NBKP 5%, LBKP 65% dan sisiran kertas 30% kemudian ditambahkan kaolin 10%, rosin kationik (1-2%) : PAC (1-2%) serta poliakrilamida kationik 0,1% terhadap berat kering serat. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa pendarihan pada pH  netral dengan penambahan rosin kationik 1% dan PAC 1% menghasilkan efek pendarihan yang baik yaitu dengan hasil uji Cobb60  sebesar    18,56 g/m2, indek tarik : 38,83 Nm/g, indeks sobek : 6,77 Nm2/kg, dan ketahanan lipat 100 kali.
