Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of Corporate Governance mechanism on asymmetric information. Corporate Governance mechanism is the subject which protect investor from asymmetric information. The sampling method in this research uses purposive sampling which selected sample by the criteria. They are companies which  the 10th highest rank of IICG from 2004-2007. The analysis used descriptive statistics, classic assumption test and multiple regression analysis. The result shows the Corporate Governance mechanism has the significant impact on asymmetric information. The Corporate Governance index and managerial ownership have negative impact on asymmetric information. It shows that the increasing of Corporate Governance index and managerial ownership will decrease the asymmetric information. The institutional ownership board of commisioner composition and size have not negative impact on asymmetric information significantly. Abstract

Today, almost all the institutions/organizations/companies need information technology to support its business. However, not all institutions/organizations/companies have good IT blueprint, so it will be difficult to develop systems/technology owned by the same practice field. These difficulties will result from (1) There is no standard system architecture, development tools, database management system (DBMS), and document systems, (2) Database design is not referring to the rules of normalization (3), Design perangat exclusive software to hardware (4) Design software is very dependent on the organizational structure of the company (5) The difficulty of maintenance, repair system testing, system integration, (6) Development always starts from the beginning, instead of continuing the existing system. Almost all institutions that have many branch offices build their own apliksi branch office, so that there will be duplication of systems / applications are built, it will result from the amount of energy, time and costs, so that needs to be built a framework to develop (1) application (2) transaction systems, and (3) online system, as a guide to develop the next aplications. Keywords:  technology; information; institutions; systems, frameworks, infrastructure                    library

Abstract

This study predict potential resistance of IT adoption from perspective of cognitive andpersonality. Research conducted on 30 employees of PT. Berau Coal and 54 employees ofPDAM Boyolali who are undergoing the process of migration of ERP and e-billing. Nonprobabilitysampling procedure was using in this research with purposive-judgmenttechniques. Primary data retrieved through a questionnaire with a closed question format.Hypothesis testing conducted using Partial Least Square with software applications2.0.M3 version SmartPLS.The results show only the cognitive factors have positively influence on intention toadopt ERP and e-billing. This finding reinforces that the development of IT adoptiontheory will lead to perceptual factors. Also, this finding indicates that the employees of PT.Beraucoal and PDAM Boyolali have great intentions to use IT in term of ERP and ebillingmigration process. Managerial implication and further researches are discussed. Keywords: Personality Factors, Cognitive Factors, Information Technology Acceptance,ERP and e-billing.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of dispositional personality and situational cognitive factors on the intention to use the internet. Personality factors were measured by five variables openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Meanwhile, situational cognitive factors were measured by perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and self-efficacy. Survey was conducted to 323 students of Faculty of Economics, Universitas Bengkulu, include extension and Magister Management students programme. This research uses non-probability sampling procedure with purposive-judgment method. Primary data were gathered using closedquestion form questionnaire. Hypotheses testing were conducted using Partial Least Square with software SmartPLS version 2.0.M3. Results showed that openness to experience, perceived usefulness and self-efficacy significantly affect intention to use internet. Meanwhile, situational cognitive factors were better predictor than personality factors on the intention to use internet. This suggests that the application of information technology acceptance and adoption theory dominantly based on perceptual cognitive factors rather than personality. The current study contributes to higher education managers in terms of how to manage common problems of information system resistance. Keywords: dispositional personality, situational cognitive, Information Technology Acceptance, and Information System.

Abstract

This study investigates a permanent issue about low association between accounting fundamentals and variations of stock prices. It induces not only historical accountingfundamentals, but also forward looking information. Investors consider forward looking information that enables them to predict potential future cash flow, increase predictive power, lessen mispricing error, increase information content and drives future price equilibrium. The accounting fundamentals are earnings yield, book value, profitability, growth opportunities and discount rate or they could be called as five-related-cash flow factors. The forward looking information are expected earnings and expected growth opportunities. This study suggests that model inducing forward looking information could improve association degree between accounting fundamentals and the movements of stock prices. In other words, they have higher value relevance than not by inducing. Finally, thisstudy concludes that inducing forward looking information could predict stock price accurately and reduce stock price deviations from their fundamental value. It also impliesthat trading strategies should realize to firm’s future rational expectations. Keywords: earnings yield, book value, profitability, growth opportunities, discount rate, accounting fundamentals, forward looking, value relevance

Abstract

This study raises the issue that information system success could be enhanced by complementingother factors. This study investigates the success of information systems by inducing2the task-technology fit (TTF) and person-job fit (PJF) into the DeLone and McLean model. Thisstudy aims to examine, among the two induced factors, which one is able to explain andimprove the success of the information systems implementation. The results of this study indicate that the TTF explains the models’ goodness of fit betterthan that of the PJF when induced into the modified DeLone and McLean model. This studyimplies this in terms of both theory and practice. Theoretically, this research presents an alternativeresearch model that can be used to investigate the success of information systems byconsidering the aspect of the users’ cognitive suitability (the cognitive fit theory). Furthermore, practically, this study suggests the importance of focusing on users’ skills and competenciesand, subsequently, management should do so. Additionally, the TTF recommends a simpleproposition that it could be attached immediately into the individuals’ skills and competencies. However, the PJF needs to be deeply embedded in the job’s qualifications and recruitmentpolicies. Keywords: DeLone and McLean Model, inducement, task-technology fit, person-job fit

Abstract

This research investigates occurrence of private information arrival in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The occurrence comes from overnight nontrading session as well as lunch-break hour. Lunch-break return variance decreases two times in comparison with early morning and lately afternoon return variances. This variance is due to private information arrival. This study finds that opening prices form the full day U-shape. It means that opening price causes stock mispricing. It also be concluded that lunch-break session produces the bottom line on the U-shape to move downward. U-shaped curve during morning until the end-afternoon session occurs. Therefore, the line formationimplies the existence of private information arrival that is in short-lived.Keywords: U-shaped curve, private and public information

Abstract

This study examines the IPO trading based on asymmetric information among heterogeneousinvestors. An underwriter plays an active role in the process of the IPO where underpricing is acentral issue. The underwriter(s) manages the IPO trading by determining the offered pricerange and a discriminatory treatment between institutional and individual investors. Theunderwriter prioritizes institutional investors, especially when they show strong buying interestsat the time of book building. The results prove that underpricing is higher when the IPO pricingis closer to the upper limit of the price range. We find that underpricing is higher when the allocationof shares to institutional investors is larger. Keywords: asymmetric information, underpricing, IPO allocation, IPO pricing, price stabilization, excess return

Abstract

This research studies the use of performance measurement systems (PMS) in public sector. It provides empirical evidence on the influencing factors determined by the use ofPMS in Indonesian local government. Institutional theory, especially institutional isomorphism, is utilized as a theoretical lens to further explain the findings. The factorsunder examination are information, goals and objectives of the organization and external pressure. The context of the study is the Provincial Government of Yogyakarta (includingBantul, Gunungkidul, Kulonprogo, Sleman, and the City of Yogyakarta). This research uses mixed research method and employs Partial Least Square (PLS) and ThematicContent Analysis (TCA) to analyze and interpret the data. The results shows that information and external pressures have a positive and significant effect on the use of PMSin local government operations. In turn, information regarding incentive has a positive and significant effect on the use of PMS. In short, goals and objectives of the organization, information and external pressures influence the use of PMS.Keywords: information, goals and objectives of the organization, external pressures, the use of performance measurement systems, institutional theory, mix method.
