Abstract

Critical thinking skills and information literacy are two competencies that students need to have in the millennial era that is loaded with a wide range of types and sources of information. This research was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of blended-problem based learning through Google Classroom application to increase students critical thinking and information literacy in material about cell. This research was a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. Two classes were selected randomly from eight Mathematics and Natural Science (MIPA) grade XI classes in state high school of SMA Negeri 1 Majalengka. The experiment group experienced blended-problem based learning and the control group received a conventional-problem based learning (PBL). Critical thinking skills were measured through a test consisting of essay questions with a reliability of 0.73. Information literacy competency was measured through a questionnaire using 26 items that had been tested for validity and reliability, resulting in an alpha coefficient of 0.896. Data were analyzed quantitatively using independent t-test and produced p-value of 0.021 and 0.018 for critical thinking skills and information literacy respectively. This shows that statistically there are significant differences in students critical thinking skills and information literacy between blended-PBL and conventional-PBL. This research indicates that the blended-PBL strategy can be implemented as a learning strategy, especially in Biology to prepare students for the 21st century challenges.

Abstract

Warehouse is an important component of modern supply chains. Warehouses can be described as part of a logistics system of a company that serves to store products and provide information about the status and condition of materials or inventories stored in the warehouse. In this case, especially for PT. YCH INDONESIA creates unfeasible product condition report when inbound process with document or system and product finding is broken on stock of locator to its biggest customer that is PT. Frisian Flag Indonesia called QIN (Quality Information Notice). At present, to save inappropriate product findings, PT YCH Indonesia uses physical files stored in an ordner. In this way the possibility of loss of documents or files becomes larger. From these problems raises the idea to create a system of QIN (Quality Information Notice) application that serves to store data findings that are not appropriate product when the inbound process and the findings of broken products in the locator. The method used is waterfall method using web-based programming language in order to be accessible by users from various warehouses branch. Supported with the availability of local internet network (intranet) within the company.

Abstract

Indonesian lexicon comprises numerous loanwords which some of them already exist since the 7th century. The large number of loanwords is the reason why many dictionaries of Indonesian etymology available today contain merely the origin of the words. Meanwhile, there are several aspects in a word etymology that can be studied and presented in a dictionary, such as the change in a word form and in its meaning. This article seeks to demonstrate the use of corpora in identifying the etymological information of Malay words from diachronic corpora and to figure out the semantic change of the Malay words undergo from time to time until they turn out to be Indonesian lexicon. More specifically, two selected Malay words were examined: bersiram and peraduan. By exploring data resources from the corpus of Malay Concordance Project and Leipzig Corpora, this study attempts to collect etymological information of Indonesian lexicon originated from Malay by employing a corpus based research. The findings show that the examined words have changed in meaning through generalization and metaphor. However, unlike the word bersiram, the change that the word peraduan happened only occurs in semantic level. This information, ultimately, can be used as informative data for a more comprehensive Indonesian etymology dictionary. Drawing on corpus analysis, this paper addresses the importance use of diachronic corpora in tracing words origin.Keywords: diachronic corpora, etymology, corpus analysis, semantic change, Malay-Indonesian

Abstract

Memory obviously plays an important role in knowledge retention. In particular, when learning mathematics students claim that much of what is taught in classrooms is soon forgotten and learning mathematics is difficult or not interesting. Neuroscience, through its study on long term memory, has tried to identify why these phenomena occur. Then some possible solutions are suggested. Understanding the processes of memory storage including acquisition, consolidation, recoding, storing and retrieval helps teachers to efficiently plan for effective learning activities. Therefore, this paper outlines the potential implication of long term memory to mathematics learning as well as suggests some learning strategies that might solve students‟ and teachers‟ problem in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Adapun fokus utama ulasan ini adalah menggambarkan secara deskriptif dan holistik tentang pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis ICT untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa menengah atas (SMA) dalam bahasa Inggris secara menyeluruh. ICT sangat berperan penting dalam pengembangan metode pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan tujuan untuk memperbaiki atau menyempurnakan kondisi prestasi siswa kususnya siswa SMA. Diharapkan pengembangan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berbasis ICT dapat menghasilkan model pengajaran yang tepat dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMA. Selanjutnya, melalui produk pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis ICT diharapkan mampu mengubah perilaku hidup dan pola berpiki para siswa secara positif sehingga tercipta berbagai perilaku dan pola berpikir, misalnya, perilaku tidak mau tertinggal, ingin cepat, toleran, berpikir kritis, dan kreatif. Oleh sebab itu, penggunaan teknologi informasi yang tepat merupakan suatu keterampilan yang sangat diperlukan dalam pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris untuk saat ini.

Abstract

Risk management analysis is to know about the implementation of information system, a part of risk management to be held within the organization to formulate a series of recommendation for the company. In order to get the final result in the form of documentation to support the further development of the system that will be described using COBIT 5 Framework, with the input of information technology processes that are running now. Then it will be obtained the maturity level, after it carry out an analysis of the maturity level has been obtained. The result of the analysis in the form of recommendation, as well as the methods that used to achieve the proposed recommendations.

In this paper will be explained about a Multi Nationed Company which have many branch office around the world and the company has developed and implemented a new approach to strategic planning that better aligns all activities and competency with the corporate bussines goals. Information Technology employee has to improve their knowledge and competency regarding to technology innovation (C. Casado-Lumbreras, 2013). Hopefully this paper could be the initial framework to realize Capacity Building for Information Technology Resources in companies or any other agencies.

Abstract

Food sensory analysis is the terms from the field of Food Technology that has a meaning which means sensory evaluation of food that is conducted by the food sensory evaluators. Currently, food sensory analysis is conductedmanually. It can caus e human errors and consume much ti me. The objective of this research is to build a web based application that is specific for food sensory analysis using PHP programming language. This research followsfour first steps of waterfall software engineering mod el which are user requirements ana lysis (user software and requirements analysis), system design (activity, use cases, architecture, and entity relationship diagram),implementation (software development), and testing (software unit, functionality, validit y, and user acceptance testing). T he software result is well built. It is also acceptable for users and all functionality features can run well after going through those four software testing. The existence of the software brings easiness to deal with the manual food sensory analysis exper iment. It is considered also for the future it has business value by having open source and premium features.

Abstract

Suatu organisasi pemerintah tidak di pungkiri pasti memiliki suatu permasalahan atau isu yang dihadapi. Isu tersebut harus dicari akar penyebabnya dan dicari penyelesaiannya. Isu organisasi pemerintah yang diangkat pada penelitian ini yaitu kurangnya koordinasi dan kolaborasi antar personil atau belum diterapkannya konsep Whole of Government (WoG) dalam menjalankan tugas sehari-hari, sehingga berakibat pada belum maksimalnya kinerja yang diberikan. Salah satu cara untuk menerapkan konsep WoG dan meningkatkan kinerja suatu organisasi dilakukan dengan menerapkan suatu Office Information Display System (OIDS). Pada paper ini dibahas mengenai analisis dan perancangan OIDS untuk manajemen kegiatan dan meningkatkan kinerja personil pada organisasi pemerintah dengan menggunakan metode Web Modeling Language (WebML). Hasil pada penelitian ini berupa desain data model, hypertext diagram dan mock up sistem.
