Abstract

Information retrieval (IR) is the task of representing, storing, organizing, and offering access to information items. The problem for search engines is not only to find topic relevant results, but results consistent with the user’s information need. How to retrieve desired information from the Internet with high efficiency and good effectiveness is become the main concern of internet user-based. The interface of the systems does not help them to perceive the precision of these results. Speed, resources consuming, searching and retrieving process also aren't optimal. The search engine's aim is developing and improving the performance of information retrieval system and gifting the user whatever his culture' level. The proposed system is using information visualization for interface problems, and for improving other side of web IR system's problems, it uses the regional crawler on distributed search environment with conceptual query processing and enhanced vector space information retrieval model (VSM). It is an effective attempt to match renewal user's needs and get a better performance than ordinary system.

Abstract

The mismatch between the generation and demand for electrical power is increasing at an alarming rate. This is mainly due shortage of conventional resources, use of appropriate technology for alternate energy sources and lack of awareness about energy conservation. Power supply to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers is a difficult task to the utilities controlled by the government. In rural India, irrigation pump sets are the major loads. The technical aptitude, attitude and co operation of the consumers helps a lot in energy management. The strategic power supply is affected if the consumers are not complying with the norms. A strategy is framed to provide power to domestic appliances around the clock and agricultural consumers on time division basis. But the local technicians play a corruptive role to violate this which is leading to overloading/failure of the distribution transformers frequently. Here, an attempt is made to devise a method to overcome the problem of agricultural consumers who are getting power on time division basis.  A control unit is installed at each distribution station to automatically monitor and control the power supply to domestic and agricultural consumers as per the pre defined schedule.  This paper explains the use of electronics and information technology in rural areas for better management of the power supply and consumption. The unauthorized connection leading to failure of distribution transformers is also taken care.

Abstract

In todays dynamic and changing economic environment, businesses are subjected to greater risks than ever before. As a result of this, IT Project Leaders/Managers/Director/Senior Technical Staff should be in a position to identify the business risks that an organization faces and the risk management policies that an organization has to effectively manage those risks. These risks may be related with the Finance, Accounting, Information Systems and their security etc. Here, in this paper, we are emphasizing on Information Systems Security risks. Risk assessment is currently used as a key technique for managing Information Systems Security. Every organization is implementing the risk management methods. Risk assessment is a part of this superset, Risk Management. There are various information security risk assessment methods available that can be implemented by the organization, and each has different approaches to assess the information security risks. Organizations find it difficult to select an information security risk assessment method; therefore there is a need for a critical review of existing risk assessment methodologies. This paper presents a brief discussion on the top risk assessment methodologies, particularly COBRA, CORAS, CRAMM, OCTAVE, SOMAP, and NIST Guide, along with strengths and weaknesses of each one. After that a comparative study is also done on the basis of the review results. Further research directions may also be taken by the weaknesses section. This work provides an evaluation to determine whether an information security risk assessment method is in line with information technology governance or not. The research paper will help the Senior IT Personnel to provide their recommendations for using a risk assessment methodology based on the specific requirements of an organization.

Abstract

As one of the institutions in education, STIKOM Surabaya also had evaluation of learning outcomes that is Ujian Tengah Semester (UTS) and Ujian Akhir Semester (UAS). One of the purpose is to evaluate student learning outcomes of a course for one semester. For students, the results of UTS and the UAS is also one determinant of whether they graduated or not from the course they follow. For teachers, student test results can also be a reference for monitoring the level of student material understanding. From the results of evaluation classes, professors or teachers can monitor the success of the delivery of material in class. In addition, lecturers can also compare the results of his/her class with another parallel class. However, at present, there is no application or system that aims to compare the results of examinations per subject material between parallel classes. This application or system was built to analyze the results of class evaluations to determine the level of success topics material. The application also produces comparisons of evaluation results between parallel classes with the Kruskal-Wallis test. From the implementation and evaluation that has been done, the application can display the score comparison per topic material. By using the Kruskal-Wallis test, this application can display comparison information about mastery of the material between parallel classes. From the results of Kruskal-Wallis test we know whether there are significant differences in the mastery of the material between parallel classes, so the successful delivery of material between parallel classes as possible can be controlled. Keywords: information system, monitoring, evaluation, kruskal-wallis.

Abstract

Industrial company, especially automotive companies posses unique characteristics compared with other companies. One of these unique characteristics are that they must own a production system which is able to meet customer requests, who recently becomes more and more interested in paint quality. Companies compete to find defect as early as possible in their production area. Painting quality parameter can be measured in number of defects found by Quality Inspection in the Vehicle Inspection line. These defects can be monitored by applying Quality Information System. This system enables faster exchange of defect information to each production operator who made mistakes thereby not reaching quality standards. Company has to invest for this system, and the investment value can be evaluated in efficiency which can also be used to raise company efficiency.

Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) plays an important role in classifying the world in information richand information poor. Poverty is not only limited information by "people who mastered the technology" and "people who do not master the technology". More complex phenomenon, including language and cultural diversity issues, level of education and the ability to access information and take advantage of that information. There are several factors that cause information poverty. Among othersare access to information , socio-economic factors and the factor of information infrastructure and information context of each individua . To overcome the problem, the solutionsare the presence of informationequality, and information literacy skills. Information literacy is a set of skills to know when an information is needed, and where the information located, evaluation and the use of the information effectively. Good library can play its role in nformation equality and sharing, by providing various forms of means of information and all of them can be freely and widely used by those who need it.
