Abstract

Bagaimana berteologi di Indonesia dalam konteks keprihatinan bangsa dan Gereja Asia? Apa langkah-langkah refleksi iman yang akan lebih membantu Gereja agar lebih mewujud sebagai garam dan terang masyarakat? Daripada mendiskusikan ke-Asia-an atau keilmiahannya secara berlebihan, para uskup Asia (FABC) menegaskan bahwa juga teologi perlu menjadi pelayan kehidupan. Maka pada sidang yang pertama tahun 1970, diusulkan pendekatan dialog jujur khususnya dengan kaum miskin dan masyarakat Asia yang multi-budaya serta multi-agama. Teologi tidak berhenti sebagai ajaran kebijaksanaan dan kerohanian atau pun ilmu, melainkan juga refleksi kritis untuk melayani kehidupan. Hal ini dapat diwujudkan melalui lingkaran pastoral: live-in, analisa sosial, kontemplasi dan perencanaan pastoral, yang mengandaikan familiaritas dengan Kabar Gembira dan tradisi kristiani yang membebaskan.

Abstract

Over the past decade, fundamentalism, conservatism, radicalism, extremism and terrorism have become the subject of a wide range of academic research. Against this backdrop, this article offers an epistemological analysis of fundamentalism that has rarely been examined. To complement the analysis, this article also looks as the ways in which information and communication technologies influence the patterns of contemporary terrorism. The author then discusses two experimental paths to respond to the challenges and problems raised by the rising tide of intolerance. Firstly, it is necessary to develop an integrated model of education, in which intellectual sharpness and moral sensitivity are complemented by emotional literacy. Secondly, it is possible to deconstruct absolutism in fundamentalist theology before countering with civic concepts. The first path requires a multidisciplinary approach which involves psychology, philosophical anthropology, theology and other sciences so as to unravel the ontology of emotion. The second path entails the openness of theologians towards deconstruction.

Abstract

Prophetic function played important role in the Old Testament people as well as the people of New Testament. A prophet is a person who have particular gift to proclaim the will of God. Jesus is known as a great prophet by the people. His prophetic role leads Him to offer Himself to death, though He was raised by God afterward. It is true that prophetic function receded steadily in the ancient Church and the period that follows. But then, this function gradually regains its place in the service of the bishop as the guardian of the true apostolic faith. Particularity of the teaching of the bishop is that they teach authentically (LG 25). One of their particular teaching is to teach qualified as dogma.

Abstract

Christian theology has been referred as a criticism against consumerism. Yet, the position of some Christian traditions regarding economic life is quite ambivalent. On the one hand, some traditions show their followers the value of a simple lifestyle; on the other hand, some traditions drive them to be pioneers in business and industry, producing goods including luxurious ones which eventually promote extreme consummerism. In Indonesia, consumerism is as vast as in the West, but it is related more to the supply of imported commodities. Therefore, while a theological re-insistment on a simple lifestyle may not be helpful in the West, it is still relevant to the Indonesian context. A contextual economic theology does not only need to be critical ofconsumerism, but should stimulate productivity. The image of a morally responsible consumer interacting with morally responsible producers would be more appealing than that of an ascetic person from the pre-globalized era.
