Abstract

Adolfo Nicols, former superior general of the Society of Jesus, presented his elaboration on Ignatian leadership before the superiors and the directors of works in Valladolid, Spain in May 6, 2013. In his narrative style he focused on three characters of Ignatian leadership: spiritual, apostolic and heroic. It is spiritual, because Ignatian leadership works on the base of discernment both personal and communal. It is apostolic because the integrity of Ignatian leadership consists in its function to serve. Service is the final and most basic criteria to evaluate Ignatian leardeship. With regard to the third character Adolfo Nicols elaborated heroic leadership reffering to Ignatian spirit of magis, choosing and doing more for the service and glory of God as well as for the common good of people. Heeding a tendency of being resistant to criticism from within the Church and without, he pointed to a habit of reflection as a crucial point in Ignatian leadership. It is indeed a prayerful aspect of leadership that protects leadership from becoming a mere management of power. He also mentioned preferential option for the poor as one constitutive point in the Jesuit life that should mark an Ignatian leadership.

Abstract

Pertanyaan mengenai kapan manusia mulai hidup merupakan pertanyaan yang sudah sangat kuno dan belum bisa dijawab secara memuaskan. Pertanyaan itu baru bisa dijawab secara meyakinkan pada dekade terakhir ini oleh karena perkembangan ilmu biologi, khususnya genetika dan embriologi manusia. Dengan selesainya program Human Genome Project, sekarang kita sudah bisa mengetahui satuan gen manusia beserta fungsinya. Manusia mempunyai sekitar 40.000 gen yang berbeda dengan makhluk hidup lain dan yang bersama-sama membentuk hidup manusia. Kepenuhan kepemilikan gen manusia yang lengkap dalam 46 kromosom itu terjadi dalam pembuahan dan inilah yang menandai permulaan hidup manusia. Oleh karena itu, secara biologis tiada keraguan bahwa hidup manusia itu mulai pada saat selesainya proses pembuahan ovum oleh sperma.

Abstract

Sren Kierkegaard triggered a movement of the existentialist philosophical schools. He brought back philosophy to the real meaning of human life. The true meaning does not depend on a speculative truth, but on the real life existence. Jean Paul Sartre put emphasis on the free choice to grasp a real meaning of life. One makes choice from some alternatives. Subsequently one has to be responsible of ones choice. Sartres philosophical idea and statements became favorite of his time. Gabriel Marcel wrote his philosophical reflection with his high appreciation to the human being as mystery. The relation between I and thou, even I and Thou have given a different angle to Sartres. What are the significance of the existentialist schools for our contemporary society?

Abstract

Orang belajar moral dari iman bagaikan kebijaksanaan hidup di hadapan Allah Pencipta dan Penebus. Namun, sangat miskinlah kebijaksanaan hidup yang dipelajari hanya dari pengalaman hidup sendiri. Kebijaksanaan iman ditimba dari pewartaan dan teladan hidup Kristus, dipelajari dari cara hidup para murid, dirangkaikan dari masa ke masa dalam tradisi orang beriman, ditempa dalam perdebatan mengenai masalah-masalah hidup yang mendesak.

Abstract

Both transference and countertransference essentially are natural projection of feelings and expections from an individual to another one which occurs spontaneously and unconsciously. The feelings that are unconsciously projected in transference and countertransference are very real, come from the center of ones being and are based upon past experience with other people or events. Transference and counter transference not only occurs in counseling, but in all of our relationship. However, if transference and countertransference occurs in the counseling relationship, both of them will affect the effectiveness of counseling process. Regarding transference or countertransference, reactions of counselor in counseling process to his/her counselee may not be related to the actual intervention. When counseling, it is important to be aware of some dangers inherent in transference or countertransference. The key is for the professional counselor to acknowledge the existence and significance of transference for the conselee and countertransference for the counselor.

Abstract

Liberation theology emerges as a movement within the Chatolic Church in Latin America in the 1950s and 1960s. This movement is principally as a moral reaction to the poverty and social injustice in the region. Gustavo Guttirrez gives the movement its name: theology of liberation (1971) that attempts to interpret Scripture through the plight of the poor. This essay deals with the Guttirrez concept of theology of liberation. From Gutirrez, we learn that doing theology means to seek to interpret the actions of the Catholic Church and the teachings of Jesus Christ from the perspective of the poor and disadvantaged.
