Abstract

Prophecy and the law are two things which are very closely related. A prophets mission, among others, is to make sure that the Law, which is the gift of God himself, is fully understood and observed by the Israelites. This is the main task of the prophets and also that of Jesus as well. This law of love in the Old Testament received its basic formulation in the Ten Commandments and the Torah. While in the New Testament, it is elaborated throughout the Bible. The teaching of the Bible then became the basis for the teaching of the Church and its tradition, as well as normatively defined in the Code of Canon Law. The Law is not intended to negate human freedom. Instead, it is created to protect it and to guarantee the rights and responsilibities of each member of the community. To support this purpose, the system of sanctions and due canonical process was applied in the life of the Church.

Abstract

Our life is a divine gift. It belongs to God, the Creator. We are not the masters. We are only ministers of our life. We are called to defend it and always take care of its integrity, as much as it is possible. Concretely speaking, we are expected to look after our own health as well as of that of others. From the perspective of Christian faith, we need to say that God, the Creator, does not expect something beyond our human capability. We are called only to do what we really can do.

Abstract

Buku karangan Tom Jacobs, lmanuel: Perubahan dalam perumusan iman akan Yesus Kristus, dibahas pada Fakultas Teologi Universlfas Sanata Dharma pada tanggal 17 Juni 2000. Sebagai outsider, dekan Fakultas Ushuluddin menanggapi buku seorang alim-ulama terkemuka kistiani, sebagai sebuah pengembaraan intelektual, juga spiritual. Buku itu menjelajah pergumulan orang beriman kristiani, bagaimana "monoteisme Perjanjian Lama dapat didamaikan dengan wahyu Alkitab mengenai Allah sebagai Bapak, Anak, dan Roh Kudus". Pergumulan iman Abraham akan Allah yang Esa menghubungkan orang yahudi, orang kristiani, dan orang muslim bagaikan dalam satu pengharapan. Juga usaha teologi dewasa ini - dalam lingkungan orang lslam lebih dikonotasikan dengan llmu Kalam, yakni salah satu cara menghayati iman - mengaitkan orang muslim dengan orang kristiani dalam suatu pergumulan serupa. Teologi muslim dan teologi kristiani kini menghadapi pertanyaan, bagaimana sabda Allah menyapa manusia yang menghadapi problem sosial kekinian, problem kehidupan yang aktual dan konkret. Penanggap teologis yang outsider melihat perbedaan yang cukup signifikan antara teosentrik dalam teologi lslam di satu pihak dan kesan yang diberikan oleh teologi kristiani di lain pihak, yakni bahwa teologi itu begitu berkisar seputar tokoh Yesus Kristus, sedemikian rupa sehingga Bapa atau Allah sengaja atau tidak sengaja menjadi terkesampingkan. Selanjutnya, teologi muslim yang mengakui wahyu atau Firman Allah dalam bahasa yang pasti akan mempertanyakan: Bagaimana Allah dan manusia berkomunikasi sungguh kalau bahasa komunikasi hanya merupakan sebuah metafora"?

Abstract

Our world now is economic world because it is colored by economic activities. Economic activities occur when two parties agree to the value or price of the transacted good or service, commonly expressed in a certain currency. A modern market is based on economy where goods and services are produced without interference and let the market run according to demand and supply. This article will deals with the John Lockes concept about the economy, Adam Smiths concept about the liberal economy, critics Karl Marx to the liberal economy, business and free market. The end of this article, I will present how the Catholic Church sees the economic activities as human activity for human development.
