Abstract

In the landscape of modern theology, John D. Zizioulas is noted for his contribution in retrieving the works of the Cappadocian Fathers in the areas of Trinitarian theology and ontology of personhood. Disenchanted by the predominance of Augustinian Substantialism, which he claims to place too much emphasis on the unity of God, Zizioulas turns to the ideas of the Cappadocian Fathers in order to offer a Personalist approach in Trinitarian theology. Such an approach, in turn, leads to the development of a particular ontology of personhood, in which Person is understood both as hypostasis and ekstasis. This article appropriates Zizioulas conception of person to provide an ontological justification for the idea of democracy. Zizioulas conception of Person as hypostasis can form the ontological ground for the notion of equality, whereas his idea of Person as ekstasis offers the ground for the cultivation of a democratic political culture, in which communion with the Poor and Suffering Other is not simply a theological possibility, but a civic duty.

Abstract

Today we acknowledge that ecological issues have been widely reported by various news outlet. Religious organizations have contributed in addressing these issues through official statements and practical actions, of which Federation of Asian Bishops Conferences (FABC) is one of such organizations. This paper emphasizes the FABCs involvement to respond the ecological issues. The review would be conducted by analyzing the documentations released by FABC from 1972-2016. The findings are as follows: (i) FABC has been consistently addressing the issues; (ii) The understanding and response from FABC are in line with the changing faces of Asia; (iii) to address the issue of ecology, the FABC has accommodated the views of cultures and religious sources in Asia; (iv) FABCs ecological roles have been summarized into four FABCs orientations on the ecology.

Abstract

Banyak umat beriman Kristiani memahami Sakramen Penguatan sebagai sakramen pencurahan Roh Kudus dan sakramen kepenuhan inisiasi. Dengan kata lain, Roh Kudus dilihat sebagai titik pusat dari sakramen ini. Menurut Kenan B. Osborne, pemahaman Sakramen Penguatan semacam itu tidak sampai pada diri pribadi Yesus sebagai sakramen pokok dan tidak menampilkan Yesus sebagai locus classicus Sakramen Penguatan. Pemahaman yang diterima oleh umat ini menjadi suatu permasalahan bila relasi antara Yesus dengan Roh Kudus dihilangkan, dan pemahaman umat beriman terhadap Sakramen Penguatan tidak sampai pada pribadi Yesus. Melalui penelitian pustaka, penulis menggunakan metode hermeneutika Hans-Georg Gadamer untuk menganalis teks dan meleburkan (fusion of horizons) cakrawala teks pengarang. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Kenan B. Osborne mempunyai pandangan bahwa Yesus merupakan sakramen pokok dan sekaligus locus classicus Sakramen Penguatan, 2) kita perlu memakai kacamata iman dalam konteks karya keselamatan Allah dalam hubungan Trinitaris untuk bisa memahami Yesus sebagai locus classicus Sakramen Penguatan; aspek-aspek pneumatologis-kristologis, eklesiologis, dan pemahaman akan Yesus sebagai sakramen primordial, 3) pemikiran Kenan B. Osborne semakin melengkapi dan memberikan pemahaman mendalam mengenai Yesus sebagai locus classicus Sakramen Penguatan di dalam ajaran Gereja Katolik, norma-norma yuridis, dan pastoral.

Abstract

In Family: A Christian Social Perspective, Lisa Sowle Cahill explained how is the paradigm shift of Christian family before the danger of individualism from the phenomenon of nuclear family in North America towards the end of the 20th century. The phenomenon of the nuclear family coincides with widening economic gap and increasing gender discrimination in the society. Cahill speaks about the Christian family as Domestic Church. Christian family is not merely nuclear family that focuses only on the welfare of its family members (bonum coniugum). The Christian family is a socially transformative family for the realization of Christian ideals : love for humanity for common good. Cahill states that the Christian family not only includes the bonds of relatives, but also establishes a close communion with various parties as a bond of solidarity to seek common good. Amoris Laetitia, an apostolic exhortation written by Pope Francis, is the Church's response to the current family situation. Pope Francis has similar ideas with Cahill. He said that family as Domestic Church, called every member of the family to be involved in the world and dared to meet their fellow human beings as sisters and brothers, and fight for justice.

Abstract

This article proposes a reconstruction contextual theology of mission for Indonesian-Christian with comparative-hermeneutical method on Isaiah 49:6 and Mathew 28:19. It is true that theology of mission in Christianity has been growth in theory. However, its not the reality of Christian practical life, especially in Indonesia, who keep doing Christianization as their mission. They are still believe that the indicator to done a mission are make other people to be a Christian. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 is used as the biblical foundation to do the Christianization. It is a way of doing theology that should be reconstructed to produce a practical mission which suitable in context of Indonesia. This writing will give a reconstruction on Matthew 28:19 that will be compared to Isaiah 49:6. The aim of this comparison is to build a wider landscape and more open perspective for Indonesian-Christian to presence in Indonesia civil society. It is a way of doing mission as a Christian and an Indonesian at the same time who cares about the plurality of Indonesias context.

Abstract

To govern his diocese, a diocesan Bishop exercises the threefold power of governance, namely legislative, executive and judicial power. As regards the executive power he can exercise personally or through another person. Administrative power becomes the area for the exercise of the executive power, including in the administration of temporal goods of the diocese and of other public juridical persons subject to him. In performing a good administration of the temporal goods of the Church, a diocesan Bishop needs to comply with pertinent canonical norms as well as to collaborate with respective council or persons concerned to avoid the abuse of power or misuse of temporal goods. The matter in question is discussed in the view of canonical analysis. This research aims at obtaining canonical assessments to the authority of diocesan Bishop in administering Churchs properties according to their proper purposes.
