Abstract

                                            ABSTRACTThis research is entitled "Sociological Analysis of Literature in the Novel Hujan Bulan Juni written by Sapardi Djoko Damono". This research discusses the sociological approach through intrinsic elements and social phenomena that occur in novels. The purpose of this study is to identify, classify and analyze the intrinsic elements used by the author in relation to social phenomena in Sapardi Djoko Damono's novel Hujan Bulan Juni. The research data was taken from a collection of words contained in the novel. The data is then analyzed using Semi theory. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The results of this study found intrinsic elements related to social phenomena in the novel Hujan Bulan Juni, where in this novel there are two main characters, namely Sarwono and Pingkan who experience differences in the background of education, social status, religion and culture in which the two figures always fighting together. But with the limitations they experience, they cannot deny it because this happens along the line of life. So that in the end they can only accept the fact that they cannot unite.Keywords: Intrinsic element, Social phenomenon, Novel “Hujan Bulan Juni”.

Abstract

                                               ABSTRAK      Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Novel Mira W “Masih Ada Kereta yang Akan Lewat”. Secara khusus telah difokuskan untuk mencari tahu tema, plot, karakter, latar dan bahasa kiasan. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui studi bibliografi dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Masih Ada Kereta yang Akan Lewat ”mengemukakan tema utama kerja sama. Novel ini yang mengedepankan Arini sebagai tokoh utama menggunakan alur progresif. Perkembangan plot didukung oleh penggunaan setting dan bahasa kiasan yang tepat. Dalam novel ini, penulis mengembangkan jenis-jenis Bahasa kiasan yaitu metaforis, pengulangan, dan pertanyaanpertanyaan teoretis.Kata kunci: Sosiologis Sastra, kualitatif, Novel Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat.                                               ABSTRACT      This study aims at analyzing Mira W’s Novel“ Masih Ada Kereta yang Akan Lewat”. In particular it has been focused on finding out the theme, plot,characters, setting and figurative language. Data gathered by a bibliographical study has been analyzed by using descriptive method. The fiding shows thas Masih Ada Kereta yang Akan Lewat” sets forth the main theme of cooperativeness. This novel which puts forward Arini as main character uses a progressive plot. The development of plot is supported by the usage of an appropriate setting and figurative language. In this novel, the author develops there types of figurative Language Namely-namely metaphorical, repetition, and thetorical questions.Keywords : Sociological Literature, qualitative, Novel There is still a train than will pass.

Abstract

                                             ABSTRACT            Muktar Tahumil1 , Donald R. Lotulung2 , Jultje A. Rattu3This research entitled “Penamaan dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Sangihe: Suatu Analisis Kontrastif”. The aim of this research is to make a contrastive analysis of Toponym in English and Sangihe Language. In analysing the data from two languages, the writer used the theory from Tent & Slatyer (2009:22) and Fraenkel & Wallen (1993. P.23) to contrast both languages. Some previous study which also been used to support this research, Suripatty (2015) and Prayogo, et al (2016). The descriptive qualitative method is used to describe the data analysis. The finding shows that the similarity between two languages is laid only in the category of toponym and there are three differences: descriptive toponym is more common in Sangihe language while in English more likely to used eponymous toponym, toponym in English more likely to used literal meaning while Sangihe language convey figurative meaning and the evaluative, indigenous, also shift toponym category are not found in Sangihe language.Keywords : Toponym, English and Sangihe language, Contrastive Analysis.

Abstract

                                             ABSTRAK      Penelitian ini membahas mengenai Unsur Intrinsik dan Ekologi Sastra. Unsur Intrinsik yang berhubungan dengan ekologi sastra yakni tema, tokoh an penokohan dan latar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasi dan mendeskripsikan bentuk unsur intrinsik yang ada dalam novel Laskar Pelangi dan menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan bentuk lingkungan alam yang berkaitan dengan unsur intrinsik yang ada pada novel Laskar Pelangi.Penelitrian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif yang menggambarkan segala sesuatu apa adanya. Teknik penelitian yang digunakan yaitu persiapan, pengumpulan data, dan analisis data. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan pada novel Laskar Pelangi, simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu: bentuk unsur intrinsik yang ada pada novel laskar pelangi yakni tema, tokoh/penokohan dan latar. Hubungan tema, tokoh/penokohan dan latar dengan lingkungan alam dideskripsikan berdasarkan topik dan tujuan dari penelitian ini serta keberadaan tokoh dalam lingkup lingkungan alam, baik lingkungan alam secara alami maupun secara buatan. Hubungan antara unsur intrinsic dengan lingkungan alam pada novel Laskar Pelangi menunjukan bahwa tema dalam novel laskar pelangi berada pada lingkungan alam alami maupun buatan. Tokoh dalam novel laskar pelangi pun menggunakan lingkungan alam secara bersama-sama baik itu alam alami/buatan walaupun dengan ltar lingkungan alam yang berbeda __________________________________________________Kata kunci: Unur intrinsik, ekologi sastra, novel, laskar pelangi                                              ABSTRACT      This study deals with intrinsic and literary ecology. Intrinsic elements related to literary ecology, namely themes, characters and characteristics. The purpose of this research is to identify, classify and describe the form of intrinsic elements in the Laskar Pelangi novel and to analyze and describe the form of the natural environment related to the intrinsic elements in the Laskar Pelangi novel. This research uses descriptive methods that describe everything as it is. The research technique used is preparation, data collection, and data analysis. Based on the analysis carried out on Laskar Pelangi novel, the conclusion of this research is: the form of the intrinsic elements that exist in the Laskar Pelangi novel, namely themes, characters / characterizations and settings. The relationship between theme, character / characterization and background with the natural environment is described based on the topic and purpose of this research as well as the presence of characters in the natural environment, both natural and artificial. The relationship between intrinsic elements and the natural environment in the Laskar Pelangi novel shows that the themes in the Laskar Pelangi novel are in natural and artificial natural environments. The characters in the Laskar Pelangi novel also use the natural environment together, both natural / artificial, although with different natural environments. ___________________________________________________ Keywords: Intrinsic elements, literary ecology, novels, rainbow army

Abstract

                                            Abstrak Penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis kohesi dan koherensi pada wacana dalam hal ini novel.tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis kohesi gramatikal, kohesi leksikal dan koherensi dalam novel Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong karya Tere Liye. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode identifikasi data selanjutnya mengklasifikasi data apa saja yang sesuai dengan pembahasan. Hasil analisis Kohesi gramatikal dalam novel Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong yaitu :Referensi,Substitusi,Elipsis,dan Konjungsi. Kohesi leksikal yaitu : Repetisi, Sinonim,Antonim,Homonim dan yang menjadi koherensi yakni hubungan sebab-akibat, alasan-sebab, sarana-hasil,syarat-hasil dan perbandingan.Kata kunci : kohesi gramatikal,kohesi leksikal,koherensi, novel Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong                                               Abstract This study discusses the analysis of cohesion and coherence in discourse in this case novel. The aim of this study is to analyze grammatical cohesion, lexical cohesion and coherence in the novel “Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong by Tere Liye”. This study uses the data identification method and then classifies what data is suitable for the discussion. The results of grammatical cohesion analysis in “Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong”, are: Reference, Substitution, Ellipsis, and Conjunction.Lexical cohesion, namely: repetition, synonym, antonym, homonin and coherence, namely the combination of cause-effect, reason-cause, means-result, condition-result and comparison.Keywords : Grammatical cohesion, Lexical cohesion,coherence ,novel “Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong

Abstract

                                              ABSTRACTS     This study is an attempt to describe, identify, classify, and analyze modal verbs in the novel The Stars Shine Down by Sidney Sheldon. Modal is a verb that combines with another verb to indicate modal or tense. A modal expresses necessity, ability, permission, possibility, necessary, willingness, and others.The problem of this study is to find out the forms and meanings of modals in the novel The Stars Shine Down by Sidney Sheldon. The method which used in this study is descriptive method.The data of modals are collected from the sentences found in the novel. The theory which used is taken from Beaumont and Granger. The result shows that there are seven forms of method found in the novel, namely can, could, may, should, will, and would.The meanings of modals are: can, ability, permission, possibility, and offering. Could expresses possibility, ability, disabilty. Will expresses request. Would expresses polite request. Must expresses obligation, and might expresses necessity.Key Wordal : Modal Verbs, Novel: The Stars Shine Down, Grammatical Analysis.

Abstract

                                               ABSTRACT      This research aims at identify, classify, and analyze the kinds of meaning based on their forms and meanings. All of the data have been taken from song lyrics of the album Colours by Michael Learns to Rock and analyzed based on Leech’s theory (1981). The descriptive method is used in this research. The result of this research shows that kinds of meaning can be found in song lyrics. It is proved by the number of kinds of meaning which were identified in the lyrics: there are conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, social meaning, affective meaning, reflected meaning, collocative meaning and thematic meaning. Conceptual meaning shows the real meaning of the words, connotative meanings shows the meaning of the word is over and above its purely conceptual meaning, social meaning shows the meaning of the words that shows the social environment, affective meaning is how words reflect the personal feelings of the speaker, reflected meaning shows the meaning which arises in cases of multiple conceptual meaning, collocative meaning shows the meaning that consist of the associations a word requires of the meaning of words which tend to occur in its environment and thematic meaning shows how the speaker emphasizes the meaning of the words. This research can provide knowledge about the types of meaning in semantic studies, especially for another researcher. Abstract

                                             ABSTRACT      This study entitled interrogative sentence in the film Lucy by Luc Besson. In this study the writer identifies, classifies forms,analyzes the fuctions of interrogative sentences in the film Lucy, and finds the most frequently used of interrogative sentences in the film Lucy. The writer uses theory from Aarts and Aarts (1982), Aarts and Aarts say that interrogative sentence is a sentence that contains subjects and open with an auxiliary verb or wh-word. The writer used descriptive method from O’Grady and Dobrovoslky (1992:2), He says that descriptive method will be used to describe and explain the facts that they observe and will not change them. The data of interrogative sentences were taken from skrip of the film Lucy. The result shows that interrogative sentences in the film Lucy have three types those are yes/no question, tag question, and wh-question. According to its fuction in communication, interrogative sentence can be functioned as question and request. The most frequently used of interrogative sentence in the film Lucy is Wh-question.Keywords : Interrogative Sentence, Film Lucy,Syntax Analysis.
