Abstract

                                                       ABSTRACT     This research entitled “Kata-Kata Pinjaman Bahasa Inggris dalam Bahasa Indonesia pada Naskah Pidato Presiden Jokowi”. This speech was read by President Jokowi in MPR RI (People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic Indonesia) Annual Meeting, 16 August 2019. The aim of this research is to discuss the loanwords in a speech text. The objectives of research are to find out, classify, analyze and describe the kinds and the changes of the meanings of English loanwords in Indonesian language. This research uses a descriptive method. In analyzing the data, the writer uses Haugen’s theory in Greavu’s Journal Observations to find out the types and Baugh’s theory to get the changes of meanings. To support the analysis, the writer uses Oxford Dictionary and Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia. The result of this research shows that based on the theory of Haugen there are three kinds of loanword that could be found in President Jokowi’s speech. Those are loanword without phonemic substitution, loanword with partial phonemic substitution, loanword with complete phonemic substitution and there are two kinds of the changes of meaning such as extention and narrowing, but regeneration and degeneration process are not found in those loanwords. Abstract

                                                  ABSTRACT     This research entitled “Figurative Language in The Song Lyric of the Album You by James Arthur. It is to identify, classify, analyze, and describe the forms and the meanings of figurative language in the song lyric by James Arthur’s You album. In analysing the data, the writer used theory based on Hurford, et. al. (2007) to identifying classifying the forms of figurative language and Gibbs R.W., et. al. (2012) theory in analysing and describe the meaning of figurative language as a part of descriptive method. The data were taken from the James Arthur’s You album. The form of figurative language that founded in the James Arthur’s You album, such as idiom, metaphor, personification and metonymy. Abstract

Sigarlaki3     This research is entitled “Reduplications in English and Tombulu Language: A Contrastive Analysis” The aims of this research are to identify, classify , analyze, and contrast reduplications in English and Tombulu Language . In this research, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method. The English data were collected from informants in Kembes Village, and have been collected by interviewing the native speakers of Tombulu who live in Kembes Village. Besides, the data have been taken from some books and website. In this research, the writer uses reduplication theory to analyzing the data and Lado theory to contrast both languages to find out the differences and similarities.The result shows that there are full reduplications, half reduplication in English and Tombulu language, while Tombulu have reduplication with affixes. The meaning of English reduplication has change cause the identity of class of word from adjective become noun. Reduplication in Tombulu language never change so the meaning still the same.________________________________________Keywords: Reduplications, Contrastive Analysis, Tombulu Language

Abstract

                                                      ABSTRACT     This research entitled ”Cerminan Puisi-Puisi di dalam Film Paterson Produksi K5 Internasional” as a requirement to accomplish undergraduate at Faculty of Humanities Sam Ratulangi University Manado. The study aims to identify and classify literature in Paterson film and to analyze reflection of poems using literary theory by Wellek and Warren (1949). The method used in this research is descriptive by using intrinsic and extrinsic approach to identify, describe, and to analyze each poem in Paterson film. The result shows that all the poems in Paterson film is a modern poem that using freestyle technique and unstructured. Also each poem reflect on Paterson’s feelings, life, and daily activities. Advice for reader and future researcher to examine others aspect in the film Paterson.Keyword : poem reflection, film, literature.

Abstract

                                                    ABSTRACT     This research is entitled “Politeness Principles in English and Tondano language: A Contrastive Analysis.”. The aims of this research are identify, classify, and analyze the politeness principles in the forms of politeness maxims, which are used by Tondano society. The research questions to be answered namely what are the types of politeness principles in English and Tondano languages and to find out the similarities and differences in the both languages. In terms of the methodology, this research has been done through library and field studies by using the qualitative method and contrastive analysis. The data of both languages are analyzed based on the theory of Leech (1983) and Whitman (1970). It is found that the concepts of politeness in English and Tondano languages are vary. The result of this research shows that politeness principles in English and Tondano language have the similarities and differences. The similarities, for example, can be found in the forms of politeness maxims of each language. The differences, for example, can be found in the form of words usage of each language, and based on the form of the polite utterances in English and Tondano language have asking, order, and command meanings.Keywords: Politeness, English and Tondano Languages, Contrastive

Abstract

                                                    ABSTRACT      This research is entitled “Grammatical Ambiguity in The Interview (2014) movie by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg”. Ambiguity is a word, phrase, or statement which contains more than one meaning. The ambiguity that occurs at the sentence level is called grammatical ambiguity, this ambiguity is caused by the ambiguousness of grammatical forms or from the structure of sentence. The aims of this research are to identify and classify the forms of grammatical ambiguity and analyze the cause of the grammatical ambiguity that are found in The Interview movie (2014). The data source of this research is collected from The Interview Movie (2014). This research uses theory from Ullmann (1962). There are 62 dialogues of gramatical ambiguity. Those grammatical ambiguities are classified into 3 types; 1 preffix and suffix, inflectional ending, and equivocal phrasing (amphibology). There are, 42 prefix and suffix consisting of prefix un- totalling 6, prefix mis- totalling 3, prefix in- totalling 3, suffix –ly totalling 10, suffix –er totalling 6, suffix – ed totalling 7, and suffix –s totalling 7. 13 Inflectional ending and 7 equivocal phrasing (amphibology).Keywords: Grammatical Ambiguity, The Interview Movie (2014), Semantic

Abstract

                                               ABSTRACT      The title of this research is “Perlocution in the Film Do You Believe by Jonathan M.Gunn (A Pragmatic Analysis)” and it is intended as a requirement to accomplish a degree at the Faculty of Humanities Sam Ratulangi University. The aims of this study are to identify and classify the types of perlocution and to analyze and describe the meanings of perlocution in the film Do You Believe. Theories from a few experts are applied in this study, such as theory from Austin (1962) to unfold the meaning of perlocution in general and theory from Leech (1983) to unfold the categorization of 15 aspects of perlocution. The results show that there are some aspects of perlocutionary such as get hearer to know, persuade, encourage, irritate, frighten, amuse, get hearer to do, inspire, impressed, get hearer to talk, distract attention, attract attention, bore, deceive, embarrass.Keywords: Perlocution, Linguistic, film Do You Believe

Abstract

                                                   ABSTRACT     This research is entitled “Childhood Trauma as Reflected in The Film Joker by Warner Bros 2019”. The aims of this research are to identify and classify the main character who experiences childhood trauma in the film, and this research focused on childhood trauma conditions from the main character by using a psychological approach. The writer uses three theories from Horney (1939), Wolfe (1999), and Stanton (1965) in the process of identifying, classifying, and analyzing related to childhood trauma and characters. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. In doing this research, the writer watches the joker film, reads joker script, some journals and book. The data were collected by the writer from joker film and its script, related to character's speech, character conduct, character conversation and character action. The result of this research shows that there are four types of childhood trauma that happened to the main character, namely physical abuse, child neglect, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse. The writer hopes that this research could enrich psychological research in literature, and can make anyone understand the causes and ef ects of childhood trauma experiences.Keywords: Childhood Trauma, Child Abuse, Film Joker, Character Development, Psychology Analysis.
