Abstract

There are the absence of teaching materials in accordance with the characteristics and conditions of a hearing impairment children in terms of learning, especially science subjects. The characteristics of hearing impairment children is poor in their vocabularies, so that, the teaching materials emphasizing the visual aspect is necessary. This study used a Research and Development (R & D) adapted by the Sugiyono model in order to produce teaching materials in the form of pictorial modules and to test their effectiveness. The result of the research showed that it was a very valid criteria with a score of 97% of the materials experts, 85% of media experts, and 93% of skilled practitioners. The score of the effectiveness of the modules was 75% with the effective criteria.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to describe: (1) the communication ability of children with autism before using a story book, (2) the communication ability of children with autism after using a story book, (3) the significant effect between story book for the communication ability of children with autism. The research design was experiment method with the single subject (Single Subject Research) and A-B-A’ design. The data was collected by using an assessment and observation. It has been collected by percentage. Based to the result, the mean level was 85.7 in intervention condition. Overlap percentage was 0%, it has showed that the intervention with telling story by the story book had an effect to the behavior’s target of communication ability. It could increased the communication ability of children with autism. The conclusion of this research showed that by using the story book can increase the communication ability of children with autism after getting intervention by using the story book. The suggestion for the teacher should use a media such as a story book that based on the theme to increase the communication of children with autism

Abstract

This research focus was the implementation of inclusive education at SDN Malang Sumbersari I in terms of: (1) student participant, (2) educators and education personnel, (3) curriculum, (4) classroom management, (5) learning activities, (6) evaluation and reporting system of learning outcomes and (7) the factors supporting and inclusive education in SDN Sumbersari I Malang. Results from this study were: (1) annually SDN Sumbersari I receive children with special needs in maximum of 2 students, (2) the educators receive training on inclusive education from the education department, (3) the curriculum used is curriculum accommodating, (4) the classroom management is based on the needs of children with special needs, (5) the learning process is adapted from the design of Individual Education Program, (6) determining children with special needs with continuous learners, and there are two types of reports on the results of learning, they are numeral and description, ( 7) supporting factor are the concern of parents and government, inhibiting factor are the parents who do not care and the vagueness of government regulation.
