Abstract

Benthic habitats are important for the quality of life and global climate. Systematic and efficient information is important for the monitoring, mapping, and recording of aquatic bottom habitats, thus providing a habitat database. In the last decade, object-based image analysis (OBIA) has been accepted as an effective method for extracting and classifying information from high spatial resolution satellite imagery. Our study's goal is to use WebGIS to combine coral reef monitoring data from Lemukutan Island and find out how much coral cover there is on the island using the smart island WebGIS. This study took place from August 6th to August 13th, 2024, and used a total of 1097 field points to show where all the benthic habitats and Sentinel 2A image data sources were located. The research results obtained the extent of shallow water benthic habitat classification with different variations in each habitat class. The Rock Class covers an area of "‹"‹41,940 ha, the mixed class 2,409 ha, the coral class 130,340 ha, the dead coral class 49,249 ha, the macroalgae class 2,840 ha, and the sand class 12,140 ha. The overall accuracy (OA) results for the waters of Lemukutan Island obtained the highest value, namely 89.5833%, using the SVM algorithm. Regular monitoring of coral reefs can help update Lemukutan Island Smart Island data to become a catalyst in realizing a smart island ecosystem in West Kalimantan Province by presenting benthic habitat maps through web GIS services and realizing technology development for coastal areas and small islands.

Abstract

Tides are the rising and falling movement of sea level caused by the gravitational force of celestial bodies such as the moon and sun on the mass of seawater on earth. The aim of this research is to compare the use of time series of harmonic constant parameters obtained from tidal data stored in the tool using the admiralty method. Research activities were carried out at the international port of Dompak Island, Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands. This tidal data is analyzed by admiralty. This method is used to analyze harmonic constants and identify patterns and sea level levels. Based on the results obtained, the type of tide in Tanjungpinang waters is a mixed tide (single dominant) with an F value of 2.01 to 2.07. The sea level elevation values "‹"‹obtained (MSL) from each time series ranged from 75.83 cm to 76.60 cm, (MHWL) ranged from 97.17 cm to 98.24 cm. Then (MLWL) ranges from 58.77 cm to 59.39 cm. Meanwhile, (HHWL) ranges from 153.98 cm to 154.73 cm, and (LLWL) ranges from -2.77 cm to -1.96 cm. With a confidence interval of 5 percent, is obtained. The difference in each time series seen from the data (MSL) is 7cm. Therefore, Tidal data from each time series has no significant differences.

Abstract

We have successfully developed a mobile program to address the challenges of marine and coastal observation serves as a solution to the communication gap between local peoples with ocean issues. In this app, we examine common of marine problems encountered by civilian and discuss the methods used to diagnose and resolve these issues. Some preventive measures can be taken are mangrove replanting programs, satellite and drone monitoring systems to monitor illegal activities at sea and campaigns to reduce the use of single-use plastics and raise awareness of the importance of marine conservation. These can be combined in a digital application connected to a smartphone. The application can answer future challenges related to observation and preventive measures for strengthening and mitigating disasters in marine and coastal ecosystems that can support maritime-based economic resilience in Indonesia. The application is MyOcean that can handle several problems related with ocean issues. The following displays the home page and registration page on the web-based boarding search application. By utilizing these applications, users can improve their understanding, management, and preservation of coastal areas. These applications are suitable for various groups, including fishermen, government, and the general public.

Abstract

Along with the development of the population and according to the spatial layout of the Bengkalis Regency, a road plan is needed that can facilitate movement from Bengkalis District to Bantan District. Based on this condition, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Bengkalis Regency plans to build the Air Putih - Selat Baru Poros Road. However, before carrying out the road construction work, it is necessary to assess the feasibility of the planned road construction using one of the study stages, namely a feasibility study. The method used in this study is the with and without method in terms of traffic. In the feasibility analysis from a Traffic point of view, the Degree of Saturation (DJ) indicator is used. After conducting a feasibility analysis, the results show that the degree of saturation of the existing road is still below the standard value (0.85), namely 0.15, so it can be said that it is not feasible in terms of traffic.

Abstract

Land use change in Kaliwungu Sub-district due to the development of Kendal Special Economic Zone is significant. The method used in this processing is overlay method. The analysis method used to determine the influence of Kendal Special Economic Zone on Land Value Zone is linear regression analysis.  There was a significant land use change in 2015-2019 amounting to 937.29 hectares while in 2019-2023 amounting to 495.92 hectares used as Kendal Special Economic Zone. The change of land value zone in Kaliwungu Sub-district is quite significant in 2015-2019 with the biggest increase of IDR 2,896,000 while in 2019-2023 there is the biggest increase of IDR 9,674,000. Based on the results of the linear regression test, there is an influence of the independent variable distance with the dependent variable, namely NIR 2023, which is indicated by the R Square value of 0.075 or 7.5% of the influence. According to the correlation test between the independent variable of the distance of Kendal Special Economic Zone to the centroid zone to NIR 2023, there is no correlation between the two because the correlation value is 0.00, while the independent variable of the distance of the national road to the centroid zone to NIR 2023 has a correlation with a negative correlation value (-0.271), which means that the farther the zone is from the national road, the lower the land price will be.

Abstract

Tidal dynamics play a crucial role in coastal processes, port operations, and coastal management, particularly in regions characterized by complex oceanographic interactions such as Bintan Island, Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. This study analyzes the spatial variability of tidal characteristics in the coastal waters of Bintan Island at three observation sites, namely Bakau Bay, Tanjung Uban Port, and Moco Port, using global tidal prediction data generated by MIKE Powered by DHI and harmonic analysis based on the Admiralty method. Eight principal tidal constituents (M₂, S₂, K₁, O₁, N₂, P₁, K₂, and Q₁) were examined, and tidal types were classified using the Formzahl number. The results reveal clear spatial variability in tidal harmonic characteristics despite the close geographic proximity of the sites, with the M₂ constituent dominating tidal behavior at all locations, indicating strong lunar control. Significant contributions from diurnal constituents (K₁ and O₁) result in mixed tidal regimes, with Formzahl values of 1.10 at Bakau Bay, 0.66 at Tanjung Uban, and 1.29 at Moco, classifying all sites as mixed tides with a predominance of semidiurnal components. Variations in tidal amplitudes are closely related to local coastal morphology and exposure to open waters, with Tanjung Uban exhibiting the strongest tidal influence. This multi-location analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of spatial tidal variability in Bintan coastal waters and supports coastal planning, port management, and hydrodynamic modeling in the region.

Abstract

The present research examines the correlation between land use and traffic congestion at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The authors analyze the Congestion Index Value (CIV) data and land use proportions to determine the main factors that contribute to congestion. Additionally, the authors examine how different land use arrangements affect traffic flow on the campus. The analysis employs both Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) models to consider spatial variability. The findings demonstrate that specific purposes, such as hospitals, housing, areas designated for females, and central administrative structures, have a substantial impact on traffic flow. Furthermore, the presence of educational structures and their closeness to different entrances on campus are crucial determinants of congestion levels. The research indicates that strategically locating facilities and optimizing infrastructure near important entrances can reduce congestion and improve movement on campus. These insights offer essential direction to urban planners and university administrators in formulating efficient traffic management and sustainable urban development policies.

Abstract

Based on information from the Satlantas Polres Bebes, in 2022 the number of accidents in the Brebes Regency area reached 1.088 incidents that cause fatality damage and material losses. Data shows that in the last three years, Brebes District has recorded as the district with the highest accident statistics in this region. These incidents have a tendency to occur in certain sections. This research  using a Geographic Information System (GIS) based approach using the Adaptive Kernel Density Estimation method to analyze the density of accidents on the road sections. The road network is divided into segments of 1000 meters and sub-segments iterated every 20 meters to obtain more accurate results. Vulnerability maps are classified based on the weighting of accident frequency, blackspot maps are classified based on Equivalent Accident Number (EAN) calculation. The results of the accuracy test comparison show that the Adaptive Kernel Density Estimation method can produce a vulnerability maps model with suitability level accuracy of 71,13%. In blackspot modeling, the CPAI calculation results show that the Adaptive Kernel Density Estimation method can produce a CPAI index of 71,73%.

Abstract

The increasing demand for land due to population growth and community activities in Ambon City certainly has an impact on land cover changes in the Waiheru Watershed. Therefore, it is important to model future land cover as a sustainable environmental planning material. This study aims to analyze land cover changes in 2014, 2019, 2024 and model land cover in 2034 with the Cellular Automata Markov Chain (CA-Markov) approach. This method integrates historical land cover data and factors driving land use change, elevation, slope, distance from road, distance from river, population, distance from point of interst. The results show a trend of conversion of mixed agricultural land into residential areas, which certainly has the potential to exacerbate ecosystem vulnerability in the Waiheru watershed. Settlement land cover continues to increase in area, namely 68.78 ha in 2014, 77.73 ha in 2019, 96.72 ha in 2024 and the modeling results in 2034 show that settlement land has an area of 138.65 ha, this is in contrast to the forest area which has decreased due to the expansion of population settlements.These findings are expected to provide insights for policy makers and urban planners in formulating sustainable land management strategies, as well as maintaining a balance between development needs and environmental conservation in the Waiheru watershed.

Abstract

This study analysed and compared the accuracy of the results of Sentinel 1A satellite image processing in the ascending and descending orbit directions with SNAP software. The research is located at Tukul Dam, Karanggede Village, Arjosari District, Pacitan Regency, East Java Province, with a range of observation data for one year in 2022-2023. Sentinel 1A satellite image processing uses the Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) method. The results of Sentinel 1A image processing were validated using measurement data from 38 dam surface measurement points that had been measured terrestrially. The accuracy calculation uses the Root Mean Square error (RMSe) to measure the vertical movement of coordinates (Z) from the results of Sentinel 1A image processing in the ascending and descending orbit directions with the actual position in the field measured terrestrially. The result is the RMSe value of vertical movement from the Sentinel 1A image processing in the ascending direction is 0.015m. In comparison, the result of Sentinel lA image processing in the descending orbit direction is 0.234m. Based on the calculation results of the RMSe value of vertical movement, the results of Sentinel 1A image processing in the ascending direction are better used for calculating vertical movement at Tukul Dam.
