Abstract

Kendalisada temple dates from the middle of the 15th century which is the last stage of the Majapahit period. The author would like to re-introduce the existence of Kendalisada Temple to modern society today by designing a wedding jewelry set product inspired by the reliefs of Kendalisada Temple which tells the story of Prince Panji and Dewi Sekartaji who are sitting intimately, then the prince plays the Vina musical instrument to entertain his lover, where for the surroundings there are natural landscapes such as mountains and water. In the design process, the author used a qualitative method in the form of a literature study which includes searching for data through books, electronic sources, and related journals about Kendalisada Temple, Kendalisada Temple reliefs, Vina musical instruments, types of jewelry, jewelry materials, wedding jewelry, jewelry making techniques, markets. research, and trend forecasting. The author also used the cultural design method to transfer the culture in the relief into a product. The design process used 4 stages, namely investigation, interaction, script development, and product design. After that, the author made some ornaments and then developed more. The author uses the stacking method in jewelry making where the use of jewelry in the form of sets is stacked with a total of 2-3 pcs for each type of jewelry.

Abstract

The title of the paper of Play of Performance Waktu Batu (WB) Yogyakarta Garasi Teater (TGY) in this Dramaturgy Study is a summary of research results at the Yogyakarta Institute of Indonesian (ISI) Research Institute in 2014. Research in dramaturgy studies uses the dramaturgy theory of George Kernodle & Portia Kernodle (1978 ). Kernodle states that in dramaturgy there are six possible dramatic values that can help arrange the unity of theater performances. The six dramatic values include plot, character, theme (structure), and dialogue, atmosphere and spectacles (texture). One of TGY’s inspirational works, namely the WB performances sourced from Javanese mythology: Watugunung, Murwakala, Sudamala and Late Majapahit History, became an aesthetic presentation especially “Waktu Batu” The Stories that Meet in the Ruang Tunggu’ (WB1) will be analyzed with a dramaturgy approach which includes structure: plot, character, theme, and texture: dialogue, atmosphere and spectacles. The results of analyzing the structure consisting of plots, characterizations and themes; texture: dialogue, mood and spectacle performance of WB 1, showing that TGY belongs to a theater group that positions as a ‘theater creation laboratory’ having a unique aesthetic concept, which is typical for building eclectic dramaturgy. The eclectic drama in the Indonesian contemporary theater scene, an TGY effort to create a WB 1 play originating from Javanese mythology: Sudamala, Murwakala, Watugunung and the late history of Majapahit so that it becomes an aesthetic presentation that can be enjoyed by the audience. TGY group can survive more than 20 years. In fact in Indonesia there are not many contemporary theater groups that can survive long enough. Every TGY staging is always in demand by the audience as the WB 1 play shows.

Abstract

Cyberspace is no longer a stutter for the masses of consumers who are addicted to memes. It is no longer a confusion between what is reality and what is hyperreality for them. Meme is a digital design object that was born from the development of cyber power and has a message content in fulfilling the purpose of communicating, interacting socially through social media or social networks and digital culture. The message is composed of a network of signs that have a mechanism in it to produce meaning. Today, many memes have gone viral among the consumer masses, one of which is the meme Khong Guan biscuit. However, the phenomenon of the ‘hyper’ signs mechanism has not yet been written scientifically by researchers. In fact, the meme Khong Guan has a network of ‘hyper’ signs which from the beginning until now has moved dynamically and has succeeded in stealing the spotlight of the masses of Indonesian consumers. Therefore, hypersemiotics as a theory of ‘hyper’ signs and the results of criticism of conventional semiotics (especially structural semiotics which is closely related to structuralism) can be used as an approach to find out the movement of the ‘hyper’ sign elements in Khong Guan meme which is engaged in finding new codes and generate dynamic meaning.

Abstract

Virtual Reality arguably has been one of the most popular immersion media for many years, especially 360 Video Camera, but its utilization is only limited to entertainment purposes, thus this research would like to test wider potentials outside its evident field of interest. On the other hand, audio has always been the forgotten elements in many audio-visual productions because its intangibility, this research will explore one of many emerging audio sciences, which is Ambisonics / 3D Spatial Audio. By combining the two powerful elements, this research is trying to prove the user engagement and communication strategy’s effectivity especially in raising awareness for Indonesia’s bird’s conservation NGO called Burung Indonesia, where the 360 Video Camera captures the environment and 3D Spatial Audio captures the sound of Indonesia’s birdlife. Therefore, the output of this research is to discover new communication infrastructure through digital fabrication.

Abstract

The influence of globalization toward cultural context is a transaction of cultural things through industrial process affected by modernization. Tourism industry is one of the globalizations which produces cultural things to be commercialized financially and purposefully. One of cultural things to be commercialized in the era of globalization is traditional art. The issue coming up is how to develop patterns so that the supporters of traditional art as the subject of local wisdom are maintained, but hopefully it can, on the other hand, accommodate globalization demands, for both economic and sociocultural aspects which have commodified culture? With the aim of synergizing the existence of traditional art as cultural identity of supporters in sociocultural way and the demands of tourism industry that commodify culture, through field research using qualitative method, it can be concluded that. First, commodification of culture is inevitable in the era of 4.0 which develops in modernity, which can be seen from more developed tourism industry. Second, commodification of culture toward local wisdom can actually be solved with some strategies without marginalizing the supporters of the local wisdom and culture. Third, the space of traditional art as cultural identity can be maintained and revitalized from commodification of culture as long as the conceptual pattern can synergize the perception and responses of the supporters with the demands of tourism industry. Forth, one of the most relevant concept to accommodate the demands of commodification of culture is what is known as pseudo traditional art.

Abstract

A quadriplegic is a person who is not able to do activities like normal people due to disablement in their body. During this vast digital age, a technological invention that can help people with quadriplegic is the web camera that is used as a mouse— called a camera mouse— for the computer. Which can then be implemented with Microsoft word software so it can help to access a computer or laptop. Before being used with the camera mouse, Microsoft word itself requires a special mode, namely physical distancing mode. This mode will later be a plugin that can be activated in Microsoft word. The existing Microsoft word layout has not been able to accommodate the use of the camera mouse without errors. The current Microsoft word software is not able to stand alone incorporating a camera mouse because the layout does not accommodate the works of the camera mouse. Therefore, a plugin is needed to support the software, named an accessibility mode.
