Abstract

Olive oil contains vitamin E which is a natural antioxidant that is effective to prevent premature aging. The aims of the research was to obtained the most stable gel formulation of polyfloral honey phamaceutically.Physical stability evaluation carried out to in which the parameters were organoleptic, viscosity measurement, homogeneity, spreedability, pH, and flowing type, at 5oC and 35oC for 12 hours on each temperature for 10 cycles.Organoleptic assay showed that there was on change in color, odor, and concistency of all formula. Based on statistic analyses by Randomized design exhibited a significant change during storage. Homogeneity test showed that all formula posses even particle distribution. Spreedability test showed that all formula there were changes in viscosity. Based on rheogram exhibited thixotrophy-plastic flow type. From physical evaluation obtained formula B of gel was the must stable (Base gel of HEC). Based on release of active substances formula B of gel (Base gel of HEC) showed the highest release of active substances.

Abstract

Phenolic is a compound that having an aromatic ring with one or more hydroxyl groups. Phenolic compounds in foods can be grouped into simple phenols and folic acid. This study aimed to determine the total phenolic content of the leaf extract of nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt). Leaves of nutmeg extracted using 70% ethanol, then the extract conducting qualitative analysis by reaction with FeCl3 as specific reagent. The result of this reaction is green solution, it means there are phenolic compound in the extract. The quantitative process of total phenolic was analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. A comparison used in this analysis is gallic acid; it is a standard reference in the determination of total phenolic content. Sample measured at a wavelength of 860.7 nm, which is the maximum wavelength of gallic acid. Total average content of phenolic is 183.56-mgGAE/g extract. The ethanol extract of nutmeg’s leaves have high total phenolic content, which means it is potential as antioxidant.

Abstract

One of the plants that is well known in the community and is used as a traditional medicine is patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.). It contains essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, terpenoids and steroids. The alcohol content, such as patchouli alcohol and its derivatives, phenol, and a group of terpenoids in patchouli oil has antibacterial activity. The aim at this research to determine the total phenolic condition the ethanol extract from the patchouli leaves. The extract obtained was analyzed ist content using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The measurements were done at the maximum wavelength of 662,85 nm. The result showed that the total phenolic in patchouli leave is 327,84 mgGAE /gram of extract.

Abstract

Flavonoids are natural phenolic compounds found in almost all plants that have potential as antioxidants. Based on previous research, stating that black soybeans contain compounds of flavonoids. This analysis aims to establish the levels of total flavonoids on ethanol extract of black soybean hydrolyzed. Determination of total flavonoid levels of ethanol extract of black soybean hydrolyzed has been made with UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Black soybean hydrolyzed using HCl and extracted using ethanol 70%. The extracts obtained were analyzed qualitative by the method of coloring reaction and quantitative analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometer, where quercetin is used as a reference standard. Measurements were performed at maximum wavelength of 444.45 nm. The research showed the average level of total flavonoids is 11.83 mgQE / g extract or 1,163 %. In conclusion extract of black soybean hydrolyzed rich of total flavonoids, and it is related to the activity as antioxidant.

Abstract

The phytochemical screenings and analysis of chemical compounds in n-hexan extract, ethyl acetat extract and ethanol extract, of Agaricus bisporus with Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) has been carried out. Extraction process was performed with terraced maceration, identification of bioactive compound with thin layer chromatography. The result of Thin Layer Chromatography test showed that n-hexane extract contains flavonoid, coumarin, therpenoid and steroid. Ethyl acetate extract contains flavonoid, coumarine, therpenoid. Ethanol extract contains flavonoid, alkaloid, polyphenol, coumarin, terpenoid.
